I thought it would only do that once you opened up the program and it showed you the status. Because the notification bar doesn't show this information, so why bother to calculate if the program isn't open..if that makes sense.
I have Battery Life (shows icon with percentage left), Temp Monitor chip temp and Screebl.
I actually uninstalled Temp Monitor yesterday after I decided that my overclocked (1 Ghz) Droid was not having any temp problems. But today I looked up there about a thousand times looking for the chip temp and then decided to reinstall it. I still don't think I need to monitor chip temp, but I just like seeing it up there.
I uninstalled mine for the same reason. I realized that I just wasn't even getting close to the max temps. Now I will reinstall it if I go to 1.1 or something just to make sure...but after awhile I realized I just don't need it. I was WiFi tethering today and couldn't get temps up above 96F. So no worries.
