alright, i have petes tools downloaded. trying to find a copy of the restore point now. the link on the program is not clickable. everything i search for is the new update.

There should be a help option at the top of the window. It'll take you to a download link for whatever system version your on.

petes tools took me to boot loop hell. after various methods to salvage my phone i ended up wiping it and starting over. damned slip of the thumb was extremely costly.

no, had the right version. when i got stuck in the bootloop attempted to boot into recovery and install the update that way. got stuck again on gmail like this person. http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-3-tech-support/174466-droid-3-boot-loop-please-help-2.html
followed directions on there and all was good to go. thanks for the help.
