need help updating my OS on an original Droid

OK, I think I may have bricked my phone I ran to the store and got a microsd card, loaded the FRG83g origional software on it. renamed it update.zip and installed it. I am now in a forever loop between the droid eye and the word droid. I have pulled out the battery and it will not let me back into clockwork recovery. Now what?

Did you wipe data and cache after restarting?

ok, I am back and have another chunk of time to try to do this. Wasnt successful with downloading directly to my phone late yesterday. Will try again today.

Have you been downloading with your phone the whole time?

If you can't get in to recovery,sounds like it's time to use rsd lite.

CJM, I could not get the phone to download the file. SO I went and purchased a SD micro card and downloaded from my computer to the card and then installed the card with the new update.zip file.

After you get a recovery put back on and everything else, I think you better just use the rom manager app in the future...nice and easy to download and install

Pulling the battery then holding power button and x on the keyboard doesn't get you to recovery?

That right there made my day.
If just holding X wont get you into recovery try X and both volume buttons at the same time. Seems like that was only a change on the Droid 2, but just in case.

As long as it boots up at all it can be fixed. You might have to refer to the link I posted before and use rsd lite to sbf root and a recovery but its still not too too hard to do

OK I held down the up/down sound, and the x while putting the battery in (multitasking at its best). I now have a black screen with white writing saying bootloader fastboot mode

My bad, I explained it improperly. Power on while holding X, then after Andy shows up with the '!' press both volume buttons and the boot menu will come up.

no Andy.. i pressed x while putting in battery.. I get a triangle with ! and a phone picture??

Guess Andy is a froyo and up thing, but yes, the '!' inside the triangle is the right screen.
