I heard from some folks that we may be seeing a full-fledged Netflix app for Android soon. So hopefully we'll be able to close this discussion a lot sooner than later!!

Whoa re these folks? And how soon is soon?

Netflix is the company developing the app. They have already released an app for the iphone but security issues appear to be at the center of the delayed release of a droid version. Gingerbread has been cited as having increased security over previous versions froyo, eclair, etc...which might be the answer to 'who' might see the app first. Most sites reference "early next year" as the timeframe for the droid app when in actuality this probably means before July...hopefully.
