LauncherPro(or ADW but I'd recommend LP). I'd also recommend ROM Manager Premium, Titanium Backup donate, and Root Explorer. so do i dowload all these? and are these on the comp or phone?

You buy them from the Android market. But you need to be rooted before you run them.

Honestly I wouldn't jump into rooting right away if you don't even know how to customize your home screen LOL. Get used to your phone first...there are really no huge benefits to rooting right now anyways.

Widgets, adding/removing icons, etc. Just the basic customization stuff.

Here's my current setup. There is so much customization you can do without even rooting. Mine is kinda plan and boring, but that's the way I like it.

Well to get the basic design just download launcherpro from the market and long press to change the icons at the bottom. Then you can add your own wallpaper and all that.
