Depends. Did you download the new market or was it pushed to your phone automatically. If you downloaded it I'm pretty sure you can't update your apps even though you can see that it needs to be updated. How do you update in the new market?

It was pushed automatically this morning.
I was just looking to see if any apps this morning need to be updated and i get a notification to update my market.
Now its updated i am trying to update an app...and there is nothing to select.
I would say that the new UI is nice but it seems like there is alot going on.

When you go in the market>hit the menu button>select my apps. It should show you what apps if any need to be updated and then allow you to do so. Yeah there is a lot going on with it but IMO it's definitely better than the way it was. Takes some getting use to though.

hmmm, That is what i am doing. It says updates on a separate line but and when i click on it, it takes me to the app but it only says OPEN or UNINSTALL where usually in the regular market, it would say UPDATE. I uninstalled/reinstalled for a quick fix. Although i know i lost my settings but that was weird that i didnt have that option.
Yeah the new UI looks great....movies on one side, books on another and then the categories tab on another side. Looks good.
Oh damn...ok so on the push update, your having the problem too. Ok maybe there is a few bugs being worked out. (Hopefully) Thanks for checking on your end. When you go in the market>hit the menu button>select my apps. It should show you what apps if any need to be updated and then allow you to do so. I just went into my market and went to update an app and I experienced the same thing you are talking about. That's the problem I had when I manually downloaded the market. That's why I un-installed it. But when it was pushed to my phone I didn't have that problem UNTIL now. Hopefully it gets rectified quickly.

I guess it would depend on your carrier. I've heard some people here say that AT&T doesn't allow side loading, who is your carrier? All my apps that have update next to them I can update, I just don't update them all

I messed up. I un-installed the market and now I can't install it again.
Boot it and Root it! Drinking Miller Lite-ning!
I think this problem (only having the Open and Uninstall buttons instead of an Update button) is a problem with the market itself and possibly integration with the new Market app itself. If you wait until another app needs updating, you can click on the Update All button to rectify this problem (well, temporarily at least until it occurs again). It doesn't do this with all apps though. Titanium Backup is one offhand that it did this with.
It seems as if the update information hasn't been spread to all the servers, so the app is pulling data from seperate locations giving two different results. Oh yeah, and when you open the app info up in the Market app and look at the version info, you will notice that the version should appear the same as what's installed. Even though they match, this isn't correct information and an update really does exist lol. I ran into this with TiBu. I kept noticing thatg I was being prompted to update even though the versions were the same. Once I was finally able to click on Update All and get the update installed, there actually WAS an update for TiBu. Just a heads up.
