New to droid. Cant I just buy ringtones?

OK so i downloaded a few songs from mabilo. and when someone calls me it just vibrates after i set a song as my default ringer. and when i check my settings where all the dumb generic tones are that came with the phone it's set on silent under "phone ringtones"
dont get it

With Mabilo, you find a song and download it. Then you hit the "assign" button, which switches then to a list of your contacts. Say you choose (for that particular song) your cousin Bill. You select his name from the contacts and it assigns it and returns you to the song you just downloaded. You're free to assign the same song to as many people as you choose. I have maybe twenty tunes downloaded, and maybe 85 people in my Google Contacts list, so there is going to be duplication. When I find (or remember) a song that better fits my ex-girlfriend Mary, I simply download the new song and assign it to her - it overrides the earlier tune I had been using.

Mabilo does NOT work so good when it comes to making one of the tunes you've downloaded as your default ringtone. You have to go to the settings section of your rom/theme, choose sound, then pick the ringtone you want to be the default tone. Mabilo will override that for the tunes and people you've assigned your picks to, but a call out of the blue, from your best friend in high school (who is not in your contact list, and does not have a tune assigned to him) will result in the default tune you chose from settings being the ringtone you hear. You have to set up the default sounds separately, and let Mabilo take care of the tunes that you chose for the specific people in your contact list.

Hope this helps! :)

I'd like to throw sharetunes in the ring. I think the app in the market is actually called ringtones and sharetunes is the developer. It has ringdroid integrated into it. It analyzes your music, then looks to the intertubes for others who have already made ringtones out of your songs. You then choose the one you like and download and assign it. If there aren't any ringtones made for your song, you can then use the integrated ringdroid editor to make one. It's pretty slick. I also second zedge. I use it to find a lot of alarm/notification tones and wallpapers.

+1! I use that one too!

regarding your credits.... this is a CSR question. Call them and ask.

Ringtones, sounds, apps, everything is very accessible on the Droid.
You just have to be a little smarter than your phone:-)

Guys…take a look at the date this thread was started. I doubt the OP is the least bit concerned at this point.
