New Update

Well then you don't need to have vznaivagator, kindle, or blockbuster for the update, I had to reinstall the 3g mobile hotspot in the /system/app folder. So you will have to do the above method for restoring these apps.

What is the name of the apk for the 3g mobile hotspot in the app folder of the system dump?

2.4.330. A956.Verizon.en.US

Hi there. 1st post, Woo. I'm in Australia and ordered a D2G on Ebay, should be here next week.
No Verizon here, and after reading thru this thread I still am not sure, did anybody download the
update and apply it manually? And if so, how?
Hope I haven't missed something simple.
Thanks

Elftal, i too bought a D2G off ebay, and what i learned before having it shipped which i didnt learn on ebay was that it MUST be activated in the US before it can be used overseas. Did you do that?

2nd post

Hey bgrade. Yes I made sure he did, the seller had sold
to Australia before and i'd researched the whole GSM unlock
thing. Thanks for the reply, can't wait till it arrives now.

No luck reinstalling some of the bloat apps - despite instructions here

Hey guys, this is my first post but I dug around for an answer before throwing this out there.

I followed the instructions in this thread and tried to replace 3 apps I had axed: Car Dock, Yahoo Contacts, and Mynet.

That being said, the files have been copied back into the system/app folder and the permissions set. It still comes up as "application not installed" and has a line drawn through it in Titanium Backup. If I recall, I used TB to remove them the first time around.

I got jumpy the first time around and just removed them rather than freezing them -- I'd like to get them back on and running to be safe. I also bought the Moto car dock, which obviously needs the one app to run properly.

Any suggestions on getting this apps installed again?

i dont kno of any workaround within the os .... maybe a factory reset might get it back, if not then a flash with rsdlite of the stock sbf would def get the os back inline. use titanium to backup ur user apps and data first. dont bother backing up system apps. b4 u do this, also go into titanium prefs and enable 'auto-sync TB settings'

Hey, thanks a lot for the reply. I've been messing with this for a while but keep hitting a brick wall. I tried reloading everything via TB earlier and everything loaded just fine via the backup file -- except for these 3 programs.

That being said, can you point me in the right direction for picking up and flashing a new SBF? I'm definitely at the point where I need some guidance with getting the phone back to stock. I'm not too concerned about data -- I only have a few apps loaded through the marketplace after having rooted it, so that should be easy enough to reload.

At this point, I'm at v. 2.4.330.A956. I know that this is the most recent firmware version out there, is there a stock file for this version that's easy enough to flash?

Any help would be appreciated. Been a while since I've torn apart a device and I'm at the point where I'm willing to play around a little but really want to find a good solution from some guys that've nailed it down. :)

Thanks!

follow instructions in post 2:

Droid 2 Global SBF File (2.4.29) Full and RSDLite

it will bring u back to 2.4.29, but u can force the system update once u'r up & running after the reflash.

a few things to note: make sure u get RSDLite 4.9. if it's not available in the thread above, poke around the internet for it. can't use a prior version ....

if your fone goes into bootloop after the reflash, it's ok. just unplug it, pull the battery, then wen u put it back in power up while holding X to get to the recovery screen. then use magnifying glass key to bring up menu and clean out data/cache at least twice. then restart the fone ....

You rock -- I flashed back, updated, and everything is back to normal. Thanks!

No more deleting stock apps -- only freezing them with TB!

Thanks again!

thanks man ....

TBP is the best way to go .... it's powerful & saves it's config to sd card in case u wanna refreeze/defrost/etc. after a restore ....

Hey elftal, would you be able to PM me the seller you purchased from? I have contacted one seller from ebay who is selling the D2Gs but not sure if it's the same one.

You realize this thread is like 3 months old right?

Yes, and I do apologize for this seemingly unnecessary bump - albeit for what appears to be a trivial request; my initial intent was to ask for any further updates on the D2G kernel as it seems there's been no official update for the past few months, yet I still need to find a reliable supplier for the product - so my post was directed elsewhere.

Sorry for dragging your attention back to this thread which you have most likely subscribed to - if it was older than a few months I wouldn't have touched it.
