Newbie Droid Razr Maxx HD User

Hi: My name is John and I just bought a droid razr maxx hd from verizon. Does anyone know how I remove app icons from a screen. I don't want to remove the app, just
the icon. I have somehow gotten several apps on the screen that appears when I turn on the phone but I want to remove them.

Hey John,
Hold your finger down on the icon for a few seconds, when the screen size changes, flick the icon up into the area where it says REMOVE.

Before you download any apps in the market, also check your Play Store settings and make sure that "auto add widgets" is not checked or it will place any app you download on your homescreens...
