Hi everyone, I'm really afraid my sound card or whatever it might be has fried on my Nexus 6P.

Recently, it simply stopped working all together. I was listening to music on it last night on my headphones and now, nothing.

I keep getting audio errors on Spotify, Youtube, etc. and even got a message saying it couldn't access the microphone or something along those lines. I'll add an image from the youtube error.

I first tried doing a cache wipe and then I've factory reset it, and still nothing. :(

Any help will be greatly appreciated, of course. Thanks a lot, guys.

Welcome to the forum!

Can you tell us more about the phone? Is it rooted? Running any custom ROM? Stock?

The error you supplied in the picture looks like an error with YouTube and not with the phone itself, but it sounds like the other issues you're having are phone problems, but it might be easier to troubleshoot and pinpoint if we know a bit more. This is the first issue like this I've seen reported with a 6P.

Thanks for such a quick reply, Jonny!
I've never installed any custom ROMs or rooted it. Running native Android OS (as far as I can tell), and I just did a factory reinstall as well. :(

Spotify, for example, keeps "playing" but no sound comes out... with headphones, without headphones, nothing...

I was able to manage a screenshot on the microphone issue as well just now...

Hear's another screenshot, showing how I can't play an mp3 file.

No, I don't think so? Where would that be located, and is that something that would come default after a factory reset as well?

woops, wrong reply, sorry... I was referring to permissions there.

Yeah. In theory, that would be solved by a factory reset. This is definitely a strange one.

Will it play ringtones when you go to select a new one? The stock ones aren't mp3s. They're a different format. Odb or obb or something.

Nothing is coming out when I tap on the different ringtones.

Have you tried booting in safe mode?

Press and hold the Power button.

In the box that opens, touch and hold Power off.

You’ll see a “Reboot to safe mode” box. Tap OK.

Your device will start in safe mode. You'll see the words "Safe mode" in a box at the bottom.

That will at least tell you if it's some rogue third party app causing the problem. I'm thinking that's not the case, but it's always a good idea to check. Definitely a strange situation.

Yeah... Just rebooted to safe mode and nothing. :(

I'm trying a factory reset again, to see if that does anything.
