Google announced on twitter that they will be pushing 4.4 Kit Kat to the Nexus 7 & 10 soon (as early as tonight). So if you have a Nexus 7 or 10 get ready.

What does this mean for users that are Unlocked and Rooted? Should we avoid taking the update for fear it will mess something up?

What is your source for that? I could use something like that for my Droid Razr HD Maxx, I couldn't update to the latest and would be willing to do it manually.

I do not have a source but i am already running a kit kat rom on my nexus 7. Plus once someone get the ota they share it with the community then the devs just add super user and make it into a flashable zip. They have done that with 4.3 and other android versions for the nexus devices.
