Google recently indicated via a blog post that the HTC Droid Incredible is taking the place of a Verizon-compatible version of the Nexus One. Google writes in its blog, "If you’ve been waiting for the Nexus One for Verizon Wireless’ network, head over [VerizonWireless.com] to pre-order the Droid Incredible by HTC."

Google Cancels Nexus One for Verizon (Phone Scoop)

Makes sense to me. There are some differences between the two, but overall it's virtually the same device.

I haven't even met anyone with a Nexus One so something tells me this news will inspire very little disappointment. Not that I'd buy one but I'm curious as to whether or not Verizon is anywhere near trying to bring the iPhone over to Big Red. I'm sure there's probably a ton of threads and articles on this, but I look forward to it. AT&T have become a bunch of greedy slackers with poor service and I think it's about time someone puts them out of their misery. Given they're practically riding on the iPhone's back, having it brought over to a successful carrier like Verizon would likely minus them more than half of their customer base.

Has this actually been confirmed "officially" though? Wasn't there similar text and a link that directed you to the Moto Droid prior to this. Since the Incredible is the new kid on the block and the Droid has already sold extremely well, perhaps this is simply an opportunity for Verizon to promote their latest edition before the Nexus actually arrives. But who knows.

iirc in the Droid's case the note said something to the effect of: "If you can't wait for the N1 on VZW... buy a Droid".

This seems a bit more to the point, imo.

Go to the actual website (Nexus One Phone - Web meets phone.).

It's legit.

Major failure. That piece of crap is nothing like the Nexus. I'd take the Nexus over that garbage phone any day.
Guess I have to stick with my Droid.

Garbage? What makes you think that?

Because the interface was murdered by HTC with the addition of Sense. I have despised the Sense UI ever since I owned the Eris. The Eris was a piece of crap, this phone will be a piece of crap with a better processor. Big deal.

To be fair the device itself is very competent, it's just that some people, like yourself don't like the Sense UI. I would argue that this is fine and you should just disable it like all the other Sense UI devices and go stock Android. Unfortunately you cannot disable Sense on the Incredible.

As for the N1 over Incredible the only reason I would choose the N1 is the fact that it gets its' updates directly from Google. No waiting for 2.2 or 2.x to be rebaked prior to distribution whether OTA or via local download/PC. So in that sense yes the N1 is superior to the Incredible.

You can't "disable" sense completely. You people still don't get it. Sense is not just a launcher for your home screen. Open your contacts apk on a Sense device, and then on a Vanilla android device. Open the browser. The UI has been overlayed over EVERYTHING. There's no need for it. That's why I hate Sense. If it were just a home screen launcher, I'd be fine with it. If you "disable" Sense, it's still there. Sense devices are just horrible.
