no email push notification, or tone Droid X

I just setup a user's Droid X with our exchange account info. No problems configuring it except that:

By default the phone is set to automatically fetch, and not push. Is this normal?
Once I set it to push, the phone does not make any tone to alert the user a email was received. I configured the tone under options for that email account, but no tone is ever given.

Can someone please tell me what im doing wrong?

Software bug. Corp Sync email is pushed fine but notifications are scarce. Big thread on the Moto forum. There's a workaround using original Droid email app.

Quick work around: put the Motorola "Messaging" widget on your home screen. It'll at least notify you of the last email you've received.
