Official! Apple afraid of google's android, check this out.

Apple Takes the Word Android Out of iTunes App Description - Apple - Gizmodo

Why do you think they would do this? The only reason, I think, is because they are noticing the power of google's android. Right now it's itunes, what's next?

Imagine if google bans the words iphone, ipod, ipad, apple, machintosh, steve jobs, etc., etc., from their search engine!

I believe all these companies are in cahoots and create the IMAGE of competition so they can put a strangle hold on the market [that's us] by taking advantage of the fact that people like a fight and tend to take sides. See how well it's working? That's my two cents.

apple outlaws mention of android in market

So you’ve got an application that isn’t ONLY available on the iPhone – it could be on Android, WebOS, WinMo, BlackBerry and other platforms. In your “description” you may want to let users know, and heck, maybe you got an award or something in one of the platforms and want to show users you’re product is noteworthy. Sound fair? Not according to Steve Jobs.
If it’s Android you want to mention you better think again. Flash Of Genius, developers of an app called SAT Vocab 2.2, have had the following description in the iPhone App Store:

They have just posted a letter they received from Apple suggesting they remove the mention of Google Android or else have their app removed from the App Store:

Dear Flash of Genius, LLC,
Thank you for submitting Flash of Genius: SAT Vocab 2.2 to the App Store. During our review of your application, we found that your application contains inappropriate or irrelevant platform information in the Application Description and/or Release Notes sections.
Providing future platform compatibility plans or other general platform references are not relevant in the context of the iPhone App Store. While your application has not been rejected, it would be appropriate to remove “Finalist in Google’s Android Developer’s Challenge!” from the Application Description [Emphasis added].
Please log into iTunes Connect to make appropriate changes to the Application Description now to avoid an interruption in the availability of Flash of Genius: SAT Vocab 2.2 on the iPhone App Store.
Regards,
iPhone Developer Program

Apple is really pushing the boundaries of control with their OS. It's only a matter of time before people start to get sick of it.

The whole "Android" ban is absolutely ridiculous and childish.

definately childish +10000000000 on that

The way Apple and Adobe's relationship is going... pretty soon you won't be able to use the word "Flash" in their app store either. LOL

Steve Job's head is lodged somewhere dark and unforgiving :icon_eek:

Yeah, they say it's supposedly more efficient than flash and faster, but I don't think it's gonna be completely implemented anytime soon. It will take a lot of time before html5 takes over mostly.

What exactly does HTML5 do?? I mean what's the difference between it and Flash? Is it supposed to be better than Flash?

Google it?

It appears that html5 is supposed to be the next in line for HTML that will require LESS proprietary plugins like Flash, Silverlight, Apache Pivot and Java.

Hrm, very interesting.

Okay thanx smarta$$!!!

I feel so enlightened now....

Lol <3

HTML is the language that websites are written in. Java and Flash, etc are written to work inside of them.

If they are successful in writing HTML5 and it takes off, it seems like those companies wouldn't be purposeful, but on the same note, it might not be as supportive as they intend it to be.

Sorry if I sounded like a smartass. :P

Also, I don't get why Steve Jobs doesn't want Flash, yet he supports HTML5. One of the editors of HTML5 is from Google, Inc. so that's kind of weird.
