Older....Official D1-MIUI-0.12.3.2

1. Do you have the newest version of SetCPU (2.0.4)?
2. Have you set any profiles? If so check to make sure none of them are set above your max (could cause a discrepancy)
3. Try re-flashing the kernel AND/OR uninstalling SetCPU and reinstalling it agin

Pretty sure that isn't the way to fix the problem with setcpu, its a way of manually overclocking and setting max/min speeds so you don't HAVE to use setcpu

So where is this easier overclocking you speak of?

edit /system/etc/init.d/99complete

you'll have to uncomment the freq lines, and plug in your wanted min/max frequencies.

your 99complete:
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
ln -s /mnt/sdcard /data/sd
sync;

#set cpu max frequency here (don't forget to uncomment)
#echo XX0000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq

#set cpu min frequency here (don't forget to uncomment)
#echo XX0000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq

#set cpu governor here (don't forget to uncomment)
#echo XX0000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor

setprop cm.filesystem.ready 1;
setprop dc.filesystem.ready 1;

Properly edited 99complete for a 1ghz slayher kernel (for example) at 1000/250 with an interactive governor:

Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
ln -s /mnt/sdcard /data/sd
sync;

#set cpu max frequency here (don't forget to uncomment)
echo 1000000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq

#set cpu min frequency here (don't forget to uncomment)
echo 250000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq

#set cpu governor here (don't forget to uncomment)
echo interactive > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor

setprop cm.filesystem.ready 1;
setprop dc.filesystem.ready 1;

Hey xformulax, or anyone else who might know the answer. So I have setcpu running with P3 1.25 kernel. I have setcpu set at 850 mhz as my max and whenever I open setcpu up, it reads as 1000mhz max even though the slider says 850. Is the above quote the way to fix this? if so, where it says "#set cpu frequency here dont forget to uncomment" do I have to type that word for word minus the "dont forget to uncomment"? and what does uncomment mean? I've never had to do this so Im sorry for the hassle. If this isnt the way to fix the discrepancy in Setcpu does anyone know how?

I've had that happen to me. It was showing my max to be more that it should've been

Oh duh, never mind about my last, I figured it out. When all else fails, re-read the OpMan and comments. In the notifications bar is a "cpu" icon. When it's unlit it auto overclocks to 1000mhz, and if it's lit your phone runs at your setcpu speed of choice. duh and duh.

No, The CPU toggle in the pulldown when lit (on not off, blue not gray, active not inactive) will decrease (down not up, less not more, minus not plus) your CPU speed by 1 or 2 slots (I'm not sure if it's 1 or 2).

Why slots? Because that's how the kernel controls the CPU speed, by slots. The kernel can't set the CPU to be just any old speed, the speeds are designated by the slots.

Thanks for the clarification, Zero! I was confused and reading the doc. Having a hard time keeping up with the newness and changes. I appreciate the help.

"I found out EXACTLY what is going on with the CPU button in the notifications. I know some others have mentioned this, but there seemed to be some confusion about what it does.

I am using SetCPU. 1.o ghz chevy kernel. I overclock to 800 personally.

If I opened setcpu main screen. I have my main profile set to 800 mhz. If I use the CPU button in the notify bar, when lit...it has no change on my clock speed. When it is unlit, it overclocks my phone to 1000 which is 200 more than my setting.

So...just to let you all know that is what is happening. Unlit...overclocked, lit whatever you normally clock to.

This was also verified in the info screen by looking at the slots...I NEVER increase my setcpu to 1000 mhz (mostly because its unecessary and decreases my phones performance..even though I get higher quadrant scores ..which are crap for determining phone performance btw). By using the cpu notify button alone, my 900 and 1000 slots in setcpu info...start logging time as well as my main screen showing 1000 mhz.

Which brings me to another bit of info. I recently flashed chevy 0.8 ghz lv kernel and LOVE it. Firstly, as stated, I see no benefit to high clock speeds for daily use, so..I dont clock that high. Second, I didnt want my phone to overclock itself to 1000 mhz because of the notify bar....and lastly (main reason)....It has 7 slots. The first slot is 125mhz, so it allows me to lower the minimum in my profiles and save battery even more. Basically it has GREAT slots for my use...so Im happy with it. "----Yakitori

are we saying the same thing or do you have a different source?

On my phone it only overclocks if you toggle on then off. If you dont touch it you stay at default. After that it stays overclocked regardless off toggle status. I'm pretty sure that xformulax is right, and this is intended to underclock when screen is off only. It appears to have side effects, though

Historical posts are sometimes no longer pertinent. That was so old I don't even remember what version I was running then....v2? Lol...I'm going to check it out though
