On-Screen Keyboard Lags Horribly (Horizontal)

Good afternoon, everyone. My name is Eric and I am a Droid newbie and a forum newbie as well, so please bare with me.

I have been thoroughly enjoying my Droid 2 and all of its features. I have just now started getting better at typing with a QWERTY keyboard.

However, I find that my On-Screen Keyboard (Horizontal) lags behind my typing skills and I have to SLOW DOWN when I type. I thought that the new Droid phones were supposed to have very fast processors that could handle this?

I am not even typing as fast the average text messaging junkie, but just at a moderate, comfortable speed.

I did recently install the Facebook APP and the latest version of SOMETHING from my carrier, Verizon.

If anyone knows of why this problem might be occurring, I would genuinely appreciate an answer.

Would clearing up my home screen fix it?

I do have Advanced Task Killer, and use it frequently.

First, stop using task killers, just search around on the forums and you'll see why. Google has said not to use them b/c they interfere with android's native taskmanaging. That in of itself will speed up your phone. If that doesn't do the trick let us know what extra apps you often use, such as alternate home apps, text messengers, ect. And are you rooted?

Thats weird. I rarely ever use the on screen keyboard but i tried it a minute ago and i couldn't get it to lag.

I would take a look at what is running in the background. It could be the app killer if its set to automatic. Personally i wouldn't recommend a task killer but thats a debatable subject.

Thanks for the input. If I delete my task killer, how do I terminate applications that are running the background then, so that they do not drain the hell out of my battery? What do you recommend?

Ok, I did some research and better understand why not to use a task killer. So, I removed my task killing programs and it still hasn't really solved the keyboard lag. I am trying to type pretty quick and it lags behind.

What other options do I have? I have only downloaded maybe 5 or 6 new applications since I got the phone last month. My home screens are practically empty.dancedroid

Mine does that sometimes, but usually just rebooting fixes it. If that doesn't work you can clear your caches to clear up memory if you're rooted. If you aren't try the reboot and let us know if that helps

if you're typing horizontally, why not just use the physical keyboard? if rebooting doesn't fix the problem, the only thing left to do is do a factory reset of your phone.
