The "T" Series from OnePlus can be a bit frustrating for early adopters who pick up the latest from OnePlus at the beginning of the year. The "T" series generally sees a slight update from the earlier version of the phone. It's normally just enough of an update to make you regret having purchased your OnePlus a few months earlier. The OnePlus 5T included the same internal specs as the OnePlus 5, but added a few other features like a Face Unlock, and a new fancier display.
The Face Unlock feature on the OnePlus 5T appears to be software based. Carl Pei has also announced that he will be bringing the feature to OnePlus 5 devices. The Oreo update also rolled out for the OnePlus 5 over the Christmas break. He did not say when the Face Unlock feature will roll out for the OnePlus 5.
