Just to add a little fuel in the fire (place evil grin here) I have gotten word that an agreement now has been agreed upon for the release of a version of 2.2 on the X. Hopefully I will have more on this later or someone else on staff will make an announcement.

Apparently there now exist a version of 2.2 that is more compatible with the X then the leaked version.

There is a thread that talks about the updates 2.2 gives. From a high level though... some bug fixes, some updated features, and the ability to use all the memory the phone has. Chances are, if you are the typical user you may not be chomping at the bits to get this update, but since I have not even used 2.1 yet let alone 2.2 I could be wrong.

From what I have read, if your rooted you might as well use the leaked version for now and then drop back to stock to get the official version when it is out. If you are unrooted and dont want to root, then its just the waiting game.

Number one battery use is more efficient for the dx. Second is flash had native support. So your flash based sites, like weather radars, are more easily rendered than before. Memory use is a bit better. So the phone seems a but faster on certain areas. Exchange support was supposed to be a lot better and more"instant".

I'm really hoping that the update helps with some of my battery efficiency. I have to wonder if they're not delaying it to help with Droid sales. I know someone mentioned that somewhere else. Either way, it would be nice to get an update notice on my phone some day soon.

I don't understand why everyone is being so impatient. I want 2.2 to WORK on my X, so when they have it ready is the right time for me.

+1...i think people are just impatient because even D1 has it...but come on people...24 hours after you receive it you will already have forgotten you had to wait a little bit lol

By rational calculations, the "end of summer" passed with Labor day. Or do we now have to start thinking "calendar" summer end??? :unsure:

READ THE OP! I asked if anyone has "real" insight. There isn't one site out there from BoyGeniusReport, to the Verizon Dev Forums that can agree on a date. It isn't like it's a dark and dirty secret that OFTEN employees with some inside know-how frequent these forums.

And isn't the point of forums such as this so we have a CENTRAL source for our information?

What is so "Absolutely Unbelievable" is that you feel the need to spout off with absolutely NO contribution to the post what-so-ever.
