Original Droid Not Syncing Emails All of the Time

Internal memory is used not only by apps (whether in internal memory or on SD) but cache and data as well. Check your free internal memory first. For some reason, people frequently overlook data.
I clear the cache regularly. I cleared the data cache yesterday which seemed to fix the problem briefly but it's back now. How do I check what else is taking up memory?

Anyone else got any suggestions? I've looked all over and tried all kinds of things and it still just won't sync on its own. Syncs perfectly fine when I manually do it.

Frustrating...

I'm running SS 5.5 which is android 2.3.5 and I'm having the same problem. Worked great on 5.4 which was android 2.3.4. Is it the operating system that's causing this to happen?

Rck76 is it the gmail or stock email app? Gmail might need updated for anyone having issues with it.

I'm not running anything which hasn't been released by Verizon so I can't imagine it's the OS. It just stopped working.

I cleared the data cache as was suggested here. Started syncing for a little bit but stopped again.

It's actually K9 mail but worked great on 5.4. Right now I have it set to poll every minute but that's going to be a big battery drain.

Also, on a separate issue, ever since they updated the Marketplace software to look, "prettier," I cannot get a list of apps installed on my Droid. When I go into My Apps, it gives me a couple of apps I have installed and a couple of apps I uninstalled in the past. So I don't even know how to force it to look for an update anyway.

Its probably only showing a couple apps because you restored a backup (did you?) To update manually just go to gmail in the market and see if it says "open" on the left and "update" on the right. If its updated, the button on the right will say "uninstall."

Never restored a backup so not sure why it says that.

Went into Market and searched for Gmail, just has, "Open," and, "Uninstall," so I've got the latest...

Still having problems but here's where I'm at so far...

Started playing with more settings in Gmail. Was set to sync 4 days of emails and I changed it to 5. Now I'm getting intermittent auto sync. Not sure that's any better as I never know when it's really synced or not.

Anyone else got any ideas on this? It's really annoying...

Have you tried uninstall/reinstall?

Or factory reset?

Haven't tried uninstall/reinstall. Wasn't sure you could actually uninstall Gmail as it's one of the base apps.

Haven't done a factory reset as I really don't want to have to go through it. Unfortunately, it's looking like I may have to.

Yes, gmail is not part of the core apps anymore. You can download it directly from the market.
