OTA Updates Possible Before The 11th?

Does this thread remind anyone else of when they were a kid and getting news updates on Christmas eve on where Santa's sleigh was?

I like the arch too. What problem(s) does this update actually SOLVE? Unless it does something useful I like my unlock function the way it is so I won't install the update at all.

As first found by gixxerjoe:

I found this posted over at Boygenius. rumor has it that Droid Upgrades may be starting today.

Verizon Motorola DROID OTA updates starting today? Boy Genius Report

This is a preliminary report. If anyone gets an update please let us know.

If you do receive the update please add your location (approximate is fine) to this Google map: DROID 1st OTA Update - Google Maps

Edit : if you have any issues or fixes please post at http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...ngs-fixes-thread-droid-2-0-1-ota-updates.html

Specifically what issues will this update "fix"?

You won't have an option. Unless you can deal with a popup every 30 minutes for the rest of your phone's life.

Just saw this on another forum:

Droid update schedule.
Just got this in my internal VZW e-mail:

All times are EST.

At noon on 12/7, 1,000 users will receive notification of the update.

At 11:59 pm on 12/7, 9,000 more users will receive the update notification.
After the first 10,000 users receive the update on 12/7, there will be a 48-hour period when no additional upgrades will be delivered.

On Day 3 (12/9), 200,000 users will receive the update notification at 11:59 pm. This schedule will continue each day thereafter until the update has been delivered to all users.

Well I definitely don't like this option.
If there are a million droids out there, that means there is a one in thousand chance you will get yours today, and then a 1/111 chance you'll get yours at midnight tonight, then if you don't get it by then, 48 hrs later you have a little better than a 20% or 1/5 chance of getting it the next day "3th day at midnight" and then the 4th day you have have a 25% chance, Day 5 you have a 50% chance and if you still don't have it by then, day 6 you should get it.

Is everybody depressed now?

Maybe my math is off.......

Considering the update was originally scheduled for the 11th and that's what we all expected, I think the "chance" of getting it early is a good thing.
