OTA Updates Possible Before The 11th?

Have any of you receivers/installers of the new update had prior text messaging problems (i.e. error msg regarding area code) and had the problem fixed after the update?

This is my main concern with the new update. Better battery, lock screen, etc is all good, but i'd still like to text those numbers i can't text right now without returning the phone.

Yes, as I said earlier, I had a number that I couldn't send text messages to before the update. Post-update, it's working.

Zodduska, where the flip did you get that backround?

Here ya go. :)

Soooooo, what would happen when you receive an actual update? If you ignore it, would it beep every 30 min or so?

Once you manually install an update, your phone won't receive the OTA update.

I've done this several times on previous Android devices.

Also, if you root your phone, NO UPDATE FOR YOU!

You'll need to manually install all future updates (otherwise, once you got an update, you would no longer be rooted)

Does anybody have a problem with the dedicated camera button? When I hold it to open the camera application it vibrates once, but the camera application does not open.

Ok i just opened the camera app manuallya after the update and it caused my droid to reboot. Everything works fine now.

Thnx for that awesome BG.

I also did the manual update instead of patently waiting for it to be pushed OTA to my phone. Phone does feel much more responsive which I could not see how it could.

Love this phone, so glad I gave RIM the finger.

Please forgive me for asking, as this is my first smart phone and I am not an expert in this kind of things, but does installing this update will make future updates impossible to install?

Basically he's saying if you do it manually now, you'll always do it manually. If you let it go automatic, you're fine for automatic in the future.

If you root your device, you'll want to do it manually. (Since you are asking this question, my guess is you haven't rooted your phone.)

Sort of true and sort of not.

When the device is rooted and loaded with a CUSTOM ROM will not auto-update. since it will break the ROM, but just applying the update manually will still let the device auto-update when the OTA ones come out (the new ones).
