Otterbox case vs Seidio case

i started with the innocase, then moved on to otterbox. otterbox is slippery for your pockets. seidio is tacky for laying on a smooth slanted surface. otterbox will protect the phone better. seidio will scratch the phone's bottom face (where the verizon logo is), otterbox will not.

I just ordered the otterbox, b/c i like how it covers all the holes, etc.

Does anyone know how durable it is?
Like what kind of a beating could my phone take w/ the otterbox?
Drops, etc?

Just wanted to know what im getting, thanks :)

If you file down the tabs on the Seidio face plate you will prevent the scratching on the Droid lip. I found a Cellet Noble case with front snaps, belt clip and belt loop that nicely holds the Droid in a Seidio Innocase.

wen buying a finished product, one shouldn't have to modify it to prevent damage, especially for a product that is mean to prevent damage.

I agree, I filed down the tabs on my Seidio case before putting it on till they were almost gone and still got the "scratch" by the Verizon Logo, unless you can slide your keyboard in and out without putting any downward force on it at all, it is inevitable that you get this scratch with the Seidio case

I complained about the scratching like a weeks after I got the case way back in December and I've continued to complain about it to Seidio and they don't care. They avoid addressing the problem everytime I bring it up.

Edit: Just talked to someone at Seidio and he told me they are aware of the issue and it happens because "Droids are not all manufactured the same". So it is the different tolerances that is causing the scratching. I told him to try to offer something to people who had their phones damaged and he is going to talk to his manager to see if something could be offered. He was thinking something along the lines of a coupon so basically we aren't going to get s**t.

A coupon would have been nice before we spent so much with Seidio but after it really does nothing. Thanks for trying though somebody needs to stand up and say something

Also I would like to hear from someone who has the Seidio case and doesn't have this Scratch Mark, I am sure that the "No Droid is Created Equal" line is B/S like I said I filed that one clip down to virtual nonexistence and still I suffered the Mark

I agree with the comments about the Seidio case. It should not be necessary to take additional steps to prevent damage using the case. In my situation, I'm on my third Droid. The first two Droids developed defects and I was able to get replacements from Verizon. I put the Seidio Innocase on each one. The first time, the case was new and I didn't know about the case causing a scratch in the Droid lip. The case fit well, but it developed the scratch after one week of use. I filed the inside tab down some and thought it stopped scratching the Droid. I was mistaken. It just scratched it less. When I got the first replacement Droid, I immediately placed the Seidio case on it. It was eventually scratched but less than the original one. I then filed the tabs down to the point were they are almost flush with the rest of the case. Now with the third Droid, I can see a slight scratch line only if I catch the light just right to reflect the scratch. I can live with it. But, I don't like it.

If it weren't for the good fit and minimal bulk, I would probably go naked. The Otterbox adds more bulk than I would tolerate.

actually, in the Seidio Innocase thread the problem is mentioned a few times. i think they try to simmer ppl down by offering discount codes.

but that doesn't fix the problem for users who've experienced the problem ...

anyway, the otterbox is so seamless, it actually feels better sliding with the case on than it does with the case off ...

i gave away my seidio to someone and warned them about the scratch, he didn't seem to mind, but i mentioned it anyway.

Still curious if anyone with an Seidio holster can fit the phone with the otterbox case.

i think it's been discussed in the otterbox thread ... i don't think the seidio holster will work. there are others that do, find the thread and read some on it, u'll find one

Here is a link to the new case Seidio has out for the Droid called Innocase Rugged Holster Combo

Seidio - Your Single Source for Premium Smartphone Accessories

Innocase 360

- 1mm thin case provides scratch protection without adding bulk
- Designed from a hard, yet flexible material with Seidio's signature soft touch coating
- Simple snap together design makes installation and removal easy
- High quality screen guard built directly into the case to protect your touch screen from dirt and oil with interfering with the touch screen functionality
- Keyboard remains fully functional
- Precision cutouts for ports and controls
- Opening slot enables you to easily remove the case
- Fully compatible with Desktop Cradle & innotraveler Car Kit

Rugged Skin & Skeleton

- 1.4mm thin silicone case that fits over the Innocase 360
- All controls are fully functional but covered by silicone to keep dust and dirt out
- Ports and camera are covered, but silicone covers can be easily moved for access and the camera cut out can be pinned back
- Plastic frame fits over the back of the case to give a tighter fit and extra protection at the corners

Innocase Rugged Holster

-Fits up to a 2'' utility or duty belt
-Securely holds your phone with locking mechanism on top clip
-Swivel clip allows you to position your phone in 7 different ways

Case will inhibit keyboard from sliding out when Rugged Skin & Skeleton are applied

If it was compatable with the extended battery I might have called and tried to get a discount since the other Seidio case scratched my phone, this one actually looks pretty interesting

Almost a rip off-of the Otterbox

It's more inline with the Otterbox Defender series than it is with the commuter series.I agree it's a slight "rip-off" of the Defender Series, but IMO the commuter series is a rip-off of the Seidio Innocase. The Seidio Innocase was around before the Commuter case.

I like both brands and have ordered the Seidio "Rugged." I'm still a bigger fan of the Otterbox Defender series, but Otterbox won't make one for the Moto Droid.

Just my personal opinion though, everyone see's things differently.
