otterbox comuter case for droid drops

Slight hijack, but what's a decent case to use in something like a beach or pool scenario? I normally carry my Droid in my LF jeans pocket sans case. But I'd like something to keep any errant water or sand off of it at times.

The Otterbox name got me interested since I've seen this ( 2600 Series PDA Case // OtterBox.com ) for the iPhone. Out of stock and I really don't need anything quite that bullet-proof. Something between the two.

the easiest (and cheapest) thing i can think of would be a durable ziplock baggie :)
thats what id use in that environment, i dont think that there will be any full-access, industrial grade cases for this phone over the horizon because a case like what you are looking for would not allow the fone to slide open.

in the interim, the otterbox looks like it seals the buttons with a silicon inner jacket, but the microusb & phones jacks are still exposed .... as well as the earpiece, microphone and gap between the phone halves/slider ....

Yep, that's probably what I'm going to do. I don't use a case normally and I'd probably lose it between uses if I had one. That's already the method I use now if my outdoor activities might be threatened by rain. Carrying too much $$$ in electronics to be unprepared.

Just got mine today! I shipped it free (USPS) and ordered it on Sunday night, got an order confirmation Monday morning, and the case arrived today. I like it so far, seems durable (like all otterbox products, but because the sliding keyboard, it does not envelop the entire droid, but provides protection (i.e. water can still leak in between the screen and the keyboard). There is a rubber gasket around the bottom 1/2 of the droid (keyboard area) to reduce this, but still.... As for the top piece, it is really just a click on piece of plastic that goes over a screen protector (clear). I have my original screen protector on underneath otterbox's harder plastic, and the Droid seems to take my inputs just as nicely as if the hard plastic protective screen were not present. They also keep the speaker uncovered (another possible source of water leaking into the droid, but the sound is still clear, so this is a trade-off). I have not tried this with my docking station yet, and because of the case, I do not think that the car-dock will work either unless you remove the bottom 1/2 of the otterbox case.

All in all, I would rate this case an 8 out of 10.

Cheers,
B.D.

2nd on pics please. its hard to tell what the case is really like from the otterbox site

they wouldn't give me more detailed shots when i inquired ...
so as with all marketing ploys, the marketed pics make things look better than they do in the flesh ...

i would like to see pics of the actual case, after a few days of use ...

Just received mine (Droid) and I purchased one for my wife (Eris). I am painting hers white and am waiting until Sunday to use mine.

The quality is great but it is obviously not the defender series case that I have become accustomed to with my previous BB. I will posted a review on Sunday.

Argh! I keep forgetting I don't want a snap-on shell because of my docks.
Still looking for the ultimate case...

Just received my Otterbox case, and I couldn't be happier. Not only is the case higher quality than others I've seen, but they include a quality screen protector as well. (similar to the Seidio as it covers the whole screen including home, menu buttons)

They also gave a small microfiber cloth and small card to install the screen.

They give you free FedEx ground, I received mine in 3 days and I live on the east coast. Highly recommend.

Hope this helps

Got mine in the mail yesterday, I love it.

It does have "plugs" so it completely encloses the bottom half. It has a plug fill in for the audio, as well as the USB port. It covers the camera, volume, and power button with its own buttons, and they work well.

Hands down the best case I've had, I tried the BodyGlove as well. I will try and get pictures taken and put online for ya'll
