otterbox defender

Would be nice if someone could post pictures of the defender and the commuter to compare because I don't know the difference between the too. :-)

Sent from my DROID RAZR MAXX

Just take a look at the Otterbox website. But the only visible difference between the two is the "holster/stand" combo that comes with the Defender. The phone cases are identical.

The defender is a more heavy duty/bulkier case compared to the commuter. Also they are kind of reversed. What I mean is the commuter has a hard outer shell and rubber insert where the defender has rubber outer and plastic inner part.

Sorry, it appears I didn't know what I was talking about. It's not the first time. From viewing the videos on the Otterbox site I was under the impression that except for the plastic screen protector and holster, the two cases' design was identical.

No need to apologize, it is hard to tell from the video. I just know from owning multiples of each, I have an addiction to cases lol.

I am looking at the commuter as it appears to be less bulky than the defender. Also I really like the Zagg screen protector. How much smaller is the commuter than the defender? I am trying to go holster-less and would like to just put the phone in my pocket. From what I can tell for that purpose alone the commuter would be the better choice. Thoughts?

I put the defender in my pocket. Sticks in and coming out and picks up lint and fuzz. It offers better protection so I deal with it. I don't use the clip it came with.

????????

2nd ! ????????????

Why in all things holy and good would you carry a phone on your hip with the screen out?
Why not just rap it against a table corner or door frame and call it good?

My only objection may be the hand feel, it seems a little bulky. I have the Verizon basket weave 1/2 shell and it works but not full coverage.
Also I have a screen protector don't want another, is it difficult to remove? If I take it out aren't I removing some water protection?
I mean a water resistant phone is a water resistant case seems nearly water proof.

PS from a video I saw and now can't find again, does the Defender's belt clip work as a kick stand, I use the kick stand on my case everyday.

i handled both the defender and comp - comp much smaller plus i have no use for the clip. comp is much less bulkier and comes with a screen protector. defender comes with a plastic cover that you really dont need do to the gorilla glass on the maxx.

comp fits like a glove w/o adding too much bulk.

couldnt be happier with it

Yes it does. You can spin it around so it's lateral, then click the belt clip into a notch, and VIOLA - kickstand! :p

OK I just got it off Amazon dot comb and wow does it protect the phone. It pops in and out of the belt clip fairly easily but I have to use two hands and actually look at the case. With practice it might get easier. I am thinking about removing the screen protector it does scratch and gives the screen a sparkle like appearance.
