I used to work at a fab shop where we had a late 1800s -early 1900s 500 lb anvil, one of the 50 or so 1/4 tons left in the US, hobby blacksmiths used to come by just to see it. A guy asked me one time why big anvils are so rare. Without blinking I said "cartoon people used them all up in the'60s". Also, there really was an "acme anvil & pig iron company" in bethlehem PA from the 1880s thru the late 1930s.

I'm going to register that in my useless knowledge treasure trove for trivia, and I thought only wile coyote dreamt that up.
