Pat's Surface Pro stops working during championship game

oh believe me, it's getting discussed in the next meeting by both the network provider and definitely MS b/c theyre the ones catching the heat via the media which we all know is undisputed king of logic and honesty...

Yeah that is the unfortunate thing. Anyone that reads "all of the Pats tablets were down" should know that it isn't a device problem. But the media obviously are too technically dumb to make the distinction.

I am a little disappointed at the title of this entire thread.

Title says "Pat's surface pro stops working during championship game" , which is what happened. From a tech standpoint we know that the issue is bigger than all of the tablets breaking at the same time as the league controls what can be done on the tablets, making this a network issue.

The Surface 3 being used by the NFL teams and commentators is about Microsoft putting their product in the face of millions. Despite this being a network issue I would not put it past competitors taking advantage of the situation. It is no different than when Samsung jumped all over bendgate.

I did have fun reading some of the tweets that came out during the game though (Tabletgate: Patriots' Microsoft Surfaces stop working in AFC championship, Twitter explodes) particularly the ones about Apple executives laughing and the one about buying the surface because they were on sale.

Fair enough. Its just I immediately realized it was not an issue with the devices, as most reasonable people should. Agree that the competitors might use it against them since they know the feeble-minded will be duped into believing it was MS's issue. Just sad that this is the world we live in.

...actually.... LOL

We've been using some Surface Pro 3 tablets at my job. We've deployed them to a handful of users, primarily upper management and sales folks. And of course, some of us within support (I've got one).

Mine is the ONLY one that has not presented problems. Everyone else has complained of several issues, the biggest issue being the power aspect of the tablet. It won't respond properly to a power on request, won't come out of sleep, etc. It's so bad that we've been in contact with Microsoft and they eventually acknowledged the issue...it has to do with the device trying to be an instant-on device like a mobile phone, but with a full OS on it (Windows 8.1). The combo just doesn't play nice together for whatever reason.

In one of our early support calls to them, one of their comments was "Well, the NFL uses them without any problem." LMAO.

And when I saw the issue during the game Sunday afternoon, I also had to chuckle. Good ol' Surfaces.
