Thank You !!!, this solution works perfectly for me, I was all set to do a factory reset, so glad you posted this and saved me all that work..

I found this thread by googling my problem, which is exactly this.
I actually figured out the problem on my own.
The reason this happens is because some applications were being used or something on the SD card.
Basically, if this is happening to you, go to:
- Settings -> Applications -> Storage Use -> Media Area
then click on anything that is checked and try to "move to phone" and if that doesn't work, uninstall it.

Just thought I would update this thread incase someone else stumbled upon it.

I used a task killer and shutdown all extra programs that were running and that worked.

Was searching for this also..

Go to settings > storage
Under Windows media sync, change storage location to "internal"
(you can always change back. Didn't work without this step)
Plug Bionic to PC USB
Scroll down and tap on USB icon, then change to PC sync
The Motorola software loads
Click on the browse files folders (bottom/left)

I want to make sure I backup everything before I factory default. I've lost paid for apps before and don't want to loose MMS pictures.

Do you have the Motorola Device Manager (MDM) software installed on your PC. The MDM software has the drivers that your PC needs to connect to your phone. When the phone first connected, it should have prompted to to install it. Open Control Panel > Add Remove Programs and see if its listed there. If not look for a prompt to install when the phone connects...or you can download it from moto. A quick Google search should bring you to the Moto site to download.
