Pdanet

Sorry I was a little missleading but you answered my question perfectly makes sense how would another computer know unless you tell it. bought the full version of pdanet works great. It works on old 32bit under my screen name but doesnt seem to work under my wifes name its running xp should it or am I doing something wrong or is the old guy just beat. Thanks Larry

If this computer works under your name and same computer under wife's name doesn't work. Then sounds like you just need to do another install when signed in with her name. Likely the system didn't associate the program to separate login's.
Thanks again Trol thought that was it but wasnt sure. So as long as my phone is registered I can use any computer as long as I register it on that computer and put my serial# in. Larry

Correct, just need to use the same registration for each computer. According to the Pdanet website they allow this.

I had to use PDA net this morning because the snow killed the cable connection in this area. It worked really great, but I noticed a quick message that was barely up long enough to read. It said it cannot connect to secure servers and I was going to pay a bill. Is this just for security reasons (duh) or is there a paid version that will let you get to those secure connections. I looked all over the market (I'm assuming if there is, there is a charge) If it is just non-existent for security can someone tell me that also.. Thanks for the help. Hope everyone had and are still having a good holiday!!

I haven't used it in forever but I know there used to be two versions (free and paid) and the main difference was the secured connection (only in the paid version).

Edit:
Yep, still that way, homepage:

"Note: Once trial expires, you can continue using PdaNet for free. The only difference is that free edition blocks secure web sites."

Google is your friend

I've had my spectrum for 4 days now and am generally happy. The only glitch is I can't get to connect to pdanet to use it as a hotspot.

Did you contact them and let them know you switched phones. I have the paid version (that I never use anymore since the hotspot hack) and I know you have to let them know so that you can get a new download code for the full version on your new phone.

Yes, I emailed them on Saturday. Since I had a windows mobile pro version, I have to pay again to get the droid version.

Do you have the PDANet client installed on the computer with the latest motorola drivers installed? And if so, when you have PDANet running on your phone and connect it to your computer, does it say Connected in the blue pop up window at the taskbar?
