perm. deleting app

Help! I cannot seem to permenatly delete an app i installed on my Ally. I hold it down in my screen with all my apps. but then it just takes me to one of the other screens, where there is a trash can. I put it in there but when I go to the screen where all the apps are it is still in there. Help!

Deleting it from the home screen does only that. It does not uninstall it from the device.
Goto the market>>Menu>>downloads>>scroll to app and uninstall or Settings>>Applications>>Manage Applications>>unintall app there
