phone got bricked...will i?

my phone bricked today while trying to install a watermark theme. i had it successfully rooted and all, just the theme got me in the end. anyways i couldnt turn it back on so i threw it in the water. took it to verizon and they gave me a pamphlet of asurion that i had to go online and order a new phone. now my phone is on backorder. my question is

how long ya'll think it will take to get?
will i get a newer droid with the 2.2?
will it be any better than the one i got in april? or pretty much the same..

Your phone wasn't really bricked. You could have recovered it will rsd lite and an sbf file. You should've posted here for help before throwing your poor Droid in water.

lol.....dang. yeah i still have it. but the insurance company says i have to return it or i'll get charged like 225 bucks. all i hear on here is how verizon will void your warranty if it is rooted so i figured they would be able to tell. so in the water it went. they didn't even look at it. they just asked what was wrong, i told them, saw that i had insurance and sent me on my way.

btw...it still isn't completely free to replace. we have deductibles ...90 dollars!! jeesh.

if you let it dry out for a couple days it should turn back on if you can go to a store and pick up some dessicant or have some of those little dessicant packs they will dry up the water faster but if you let it sit in the sun a couple days it will surely dry out just put it in your car not on the dash but in your car for a couple days cause its hot in there. It should be fine after like 4 days or so...then just google how to flash a 201 sbf recovery file using rsdlite its very very easy...or you can hold your x button and the power button first hold them untill the phone turns completely on if you can get into recovery you are all good post back in 4 days and let us know

Your phone wasn't really bricked. You could have recovered it will rsd lite and an sbf file. You should've posted here for help before throwing your poor Droid in water.

you have no idea how much that kills me to think i could have saved her. she is sitting in my truck. this is the longest i've been without her since i got her. she must hate me...

anyways. would could've happened to it? here is what happened
i was on the theme forums, and decided to go with the watermark theme, cuz it looks cool as hell. i ended up talking to the developer of the theme himself (through forum thread) and i did as he instructed. i loaded up my rom, went to the download file in it found the theme and clicked to backup. everything looked as if it was working fine went all the way through. went to walk the dog. and when i came back i was not at my home screen. so i thought this was weird. i looke at it, and i can barely see the droid eye, i mean it sort of was pixalating but only pieced of the picture of the eye, just after you see the "M" dis-appear when you reboot the phone. i tried removing the battery 10 times nothing. thats when i did the water thing, and took it to verizon..

yeah you could have fixed it very very simply...the word i bricked my droid is being thrown around a little too loosely....just because you didnt know how to fix it doesnt mean its bricked...when its bricked it dont turn on it dont do a thing.....o well i guess this is a learning experience for you..next time post your problem and i guarantee you will have a fix within a half hour or so..these phones can go through hell and back and still be fixed basically...o well

So I didnt want to void my warranty, lord knows i can not afford another Droid. Thats why i waterboarded it. i figured they couldn't tell at all if it's dead completely

So instead of dealing with your device, you opted to commit Insurance fraud?

It's hard to say what went wrong, but backing up and loading roms take quite a lot out of the battery. It might be that the battery just got too low to complete the rom installation. Perhaps it just needed to be charged for a while, then flashed with rsd lite. Now we'll never know.

learning lesson for sure. i will definatley be getting it rooted again. what is a good setup to have for a fast phone?

as soon as i get it i will get easy root...but not sure what i'll set it up with..

but can ya'll suggest a good setup and where i can get them.

i may go back to bugless beast v.04 or is that not the best..

kernel...have no idea how to get one

theme...there is where i'm afraid to change lol....thats where i got bit..

anything else other than those 3 things? or does that just about cover it?
