Phone not vibrating when recieving text messages!

First of all, I am rooted and have noticed this on a number of different FRG22D roms I have been running. Back when I was using BB0.4, my phone would vibrate like usual on texts.

Now, it seems that regardless of what rom I use I can't get it to vibrate upon recieving texts. I have tried using handcent, as well as teh stock messaging app to no avail. My phone vibrates fine upon recieving calls, but not texts...

I have gone into the notification settings of handcent and confirmed that it is indeed set to vibrate on texts. I have even tried changing the interval pattern... I'm lost and out of ideas!

I am unrooted and the vibrate does not seem to work since the update to the latest build. Original Droid 2.2 Build FRG22D

Anyone have any fixes for this? This is a major problem for me as I really rely on my phone in vibrate mode! Thanks.
