Phone upgrade

Here is why I think it is not:

- Rezound has a true 720p screen with the best pixel density of any phone (and this is really the main reason I think it is better)
- The Rezound can be legitimately unlocked through HTC's website...HTC will not be throwing root roadblocks in my way
- The Rezound has one of the best cameras on any phone right now (including the front camera)
- The Rezound comes with expensive earbuds for free, which can be sold even if you dont want them
- 64 Gig SD cards have been confirmed to work on the Rezound...I dont know if that is true for the Bionic

I cant think of anything the bionic does better than the Rezound. I think the Rezound even beats it in benchmarks. The only reason to get a Bionic over a Rezound at all IMO is because it is cheaper.

Or if you want to see the screen in direct sunlight at 0% with sunglasses on.

I never have problems viewing in Sunlight. This is a myth.

Even if it wasnt, it still would not be worth the trade IMO. A slightly brighter screen is not worth sacrificing a 720p resolution and a pixel density even better than the iPhone.

Its actually not a myth.

But I digress. If you want to have a 720p screen with better dpi than an IPhone's "retina" display, then you should get a Rezound.

Having seen it with my own eyes, I can confirm it is a myth.

I used the following equation to determine this:
My own eyes > rumor and hearsay

When I use it outside I never have the problems seeing it in sunlight that I did with my droid 1. If I have any complaints it is that the glass is too reflective, not that the display is too dim. I've never been in a situation where I could not see it clearly outside.

Thank you, that will come in useful.

I didn't say you COULDN'T see it EVER. I said you couldn't see it at 0% brightness, which is where I like to keep my phone for maximum battery savings. Since I COULD not see my D1 at 0% with sunglasses on, one of a few things may have happened;

A: My sunglasses are darker than yours
B: You didn't have the screen at 0%
C: I shouldn't be able to drive legally

You are correct...I missed the 0% thing.

I never have any phone at 0% brightness. Even indoors. I've never been that hard up for battery savings I guess. I generally keep my screen off unless I am actually using it. I did the same thing with my Droid 1. That has saved me more on battery life than turning down my screen brightness ever did.

Also...If you raise the Rezound's brightness to the same level that the Bionic is at 0%, I think it is possible that the battery consumption would be the same anyway. Or possibly negligible.

All this is moot to me now of course. I have the extended battery. I can go 24 hours between charges most of the time, and I can go a 14 hours easy with heavy use.

That isnt true. I have recommended the Bionic several times. I just dont think it competes with the current tier1 phones. There isnt really anything it does that they dont do as well or better.

How does the Bionic not compete with current tier1 phones? Care to explain that?

I would vehemently disagree with that statement. If you don't like it, cool. But you gotta back up a statement like that. You said there's nothing it does that the others don't. FM radio? There's one for you.

The Bionic is every bit as good as every other phone out there. On top of that, it's become cool to hate the Bionic, so while some are overlooking it you can swoop in and get a top level phone for cheap.

Yeah. I love it when people hate on the bionic, leaves more and cheaper for me.

And please don't bring up the camera. I'm not using my phone as a professional photographers camera. The Bionic is just fine for a smartphone's camera. Also the headphones are a gimmick. It's funny that the Rezound has to suck people in with "expensive" headphones. Who doesn't already own headphones for crying out loud?

Um...I thought I already did that back in Post #30. The main way is the display. All the tier1 phones except 1 are 720p.

I did that already. You need to read the entire thread.

The rezound does have an FM radio. However I would disagree with your implication that the FM radio makes it preferable to a phone with a 720p display. LOL

The Bionic is every bit as good as every other phone out there.
No, it isnt. I have already given several examples. Explain to me why the examples I gave in post #30 do not count.

There is a good reason it is cheap. Just sayin.

No need to get all bent out of shape over it. Bionic owners get so defensive over this. All phones become obsolete, usually within 6 months. When the quad core phones come out in May or whatever the current tier1 phones will not longer be tier1 either. And the Rezound will join the bionic in the bargain bin.

LOL! You say it is every bit as good as the current phones, yet you keep bringing up all these exceptions.

If given a choice, I seriously doubt you would rather have a bad camera. Lets not be hypocritical here.

The Bionic is just fine for a smartphone's camera.
I agree. But "just fine" is not the same as "the best".

Also the headphones are a gimmick.
The Headphones are expensive, and people are actually paying money for them. Whether or not you personally like them, that is the truth of it.

It's funny that the Rezound has to suck people in with "expensive" headphones. Who doesn't already own headphones for crying out loud?
So therefore, it is better not to get them for free? LOL!

I have a feeling that if they came free with the Bionic instead you would not be such a sourpuss about them.

Why does expressing an opinion about phone hardware = hate? I am not judging your soul. I am judging a phone. Its just a phone.

And I have actually recommended the Bionic to people on here before. All things are relative. For its time, the Bionic was a good phone.

However, you are being supercritical, IMHO.

I still have a 720p HDTV. I bought it because it was inexpensive. I don't have a fit every time I go over someones house that has a 1080p TV. Quite the contrary they congratulate me on getting a great price on my TV and it looks "just as good" to them.

Its all in the eye of the beholder. And although people come in and give their recommendation, you continually berate and degrade their opinion. Sure there are facts, but generally people buy items on their or others opinions on them.

Can potentially leave REAR FACING camera out of the equation because all the phones I picked can do 720p recording. But yes, I know usually cheap and good don't mix when it comes to electronic gadgets, but what can I say I am frugal when it comes to things. My main primary use is social on the go messaging & media (example: I cannot live with being able to do video on my phone) and a good frontface camera would do it in for me. That is what came out of using my wife's iPhone4 for a few days, I enjoyed it but didn't like the software. So basically looking for an equivalent so to speak or better than the iPhone 4 with an android twist. This is where I think the Dinc2 and LG Spectrum come into play for me. I know I can't count out the Bionic but with the Spectrum with a better screen over the Bionic is where I would put extra money into. I got the point though, splurge an extra $50 for a Rezound if I can. Oh and yes I would enjoy the better headphones! I LOVE music.

DIDNT MENTION, battery life is a plus but I would sacrifice if it means smoothness. Dev/custom rom/kernel support is key in this as well.

How have I berated or degraded anyone who hasnt done so to me first? Can you give me an example?

On the contrary I am often insulted on this forum, for nothing more than expressing an opinion about a piece of technology. Am I not allowed an opinion just like everyone else?
