Physical Keys After Update

I heard of people getting 3 replacements. It's not your fault you keep getting dud phones. Just call and go through the whole thing and they will say if they are going to charge you or not.

Hmmm... I may have to get a replacement then. If it is indeed a hardware issue, I wouldn't mind a shiny new phone.

On a second thought, is there any way to pull my nandroid backup off my phone so that I can load it onto the replacement and be back to the way I was in no time? After root/debloat of course.

Does it save on the phone or sd card? I'm sure there's a way to move it over.

I am having similar problems with mine. sometimes i hit the space bar and it puts a period in instead of a space and some keys dont work at all. Also sometimes it puts in too many spaces. when im not looking and texting i have to go back and do a lot of editing. some texts might look like this "This.Phne.Is. Really starting to.Piss.Me off" and sometimes the multi-touch keyboard just locks up. starting to think this phone was used as a prototype for the Bionic and verizons "buy one get one" deal was so they could get rid of all of these to make room for the perfected Bionic.

Also another problem im having is my phone will not vibrate for text messages. Vibrate for phone calls and alarms and just about everything else, but any kind of text notification it wont vibrate which is really a pain because when in class or have my phone in silent/vibrate mode i miss texts because i dont feel the good vibrations. Vibrate is turned on in the system settings and the messages settings.

Restored phone to factory settings. Phsyical keys seemed to be ok but the spacebar button kept messing up. Decided to not bother with the phone and tried it again today and its gotten even worse where I have to click buttons more than 4 times. Looks like its back to my htc desire hd touchscreen until this gets fixed.

The only way to fix it is to get a replacement. I doubt they will do an update just to help a handful of us with bum phones.

Newb question but If I do the same thing what happens once the data is cleared on a rooted droid?
Pretty much nothing.

I got my new phone(well certified used) on Tuesday and spent the past couple days transferring everything. Once I did that I couldn't get on the market, it would say "server error[retry]", uninstalled the market and went into it and it was the old market. Once I closed out of it and went back in I kept getting the "server error[retry]". I got fed up and just did a factory reset and re-downloaded each and every app that I had previously. Let me tell you, the new phone feels a lot better than the old one. I had a wobbly power button, the menu, home, back, search lights we not alined correctly. I feel a lot better with the new replacement.

I used this to return my old phone to stock to send back.

Same here. Phone worked perfectly for a bit, now its almost painful to use the keyboard. I still prefer my kb, but when I have to watch for typos more than I type....

Gonna try a reset, and if its still bad gonna head to vzw.

I might all asp also try flashing a ROM before I try returning it

I hate to be so ignorant here but if I clear the data under mutli-keyboard it should help with the space bar, /?, "N" keys problems? I won't have to mess with anything else or it won't change anything else on the phone?
love learning and doing all this stuff but don't have the funds or the time if I do any damage to my phone so I defer to those more in the know here.

can someone test this? i unchecked the physical keyboard options under keyboard settings, and everything seems to work...sure miss my auto cap and periods and such though.

even if it seems to miss a press of the space bar still, its much much much better. seems to imply the issue is indeed software and not hardware. i almost feel as though i can use the keyboard as intended.

I was having problems with my physical keyboard and i wiped data/factory reset and it started working correctly but only for a day or so. I called VZW and they sent me a CLNR and i haven't had a problem since. Just my $0.02.

when you go to keyboard in settings, the bottom will be "built in keyboard". i unchecked everything, auto correct, auto capitalize and auto punctuate. after doing this, i've found the physical keyboard actually works. it might still miss a press of the spacebar, but its rare, and not the norm as it was before.

i was wanting for someone else with the keyboard issues to try this, to see if my case is isolated or not. but this gives me hope that my keyboard can be fixed with an update, and not simply getting a new phone. (im really really missing my auto cap and punctuate though, lol)
