Please Help!!

I just bought and used mybackup pro.. it said it was gonna backup my vpns.. it said it did.. said it was successful.. I restored all.. and it said it restored them to the phone.. the program said it transfered 47.. but after a restart.. it still shows no networks in my known lists.. acts like Ive never connected to any network before..

I am sort of stuck jedi. I know it happens automatically for me. The settings are just there. There are some things, such as my keyboard dictionary database that I have to copy from my internal storage onto my external sd card then copy it back to the internal storage in the appropriate file location for my keyboard to be able to find my saved dictionary. Did you save data from MyBackup and try to restore data from there?

I did the backup to the online server and then restored from there.. should I try to backup to the sd card and restore it from there instead?

Yes, definitely! Not sure if it will make a difference but seems like it should because the porgrams will look to specific folders for settings and data and if they can not find it, they won't apply it. Then on your old phone when you backup to your sd card, move the sd card to new phone and from MyBackup, restore data on your new phone.

Rjeatkrconley, that may come in very handy. As mentioned earlier, it may not be possible. For me, for some reason, it happens automatically. I thought it was MyBackup that made that possible but maybe not.

Its always worked for me. I accidentally did a FDR a week ago..meant to wipe cashe, darn dry contacts. When I was setting up the phone, it connected to my WAP no problem. It had the security key..
But it may have something to do with the version of GB that the D2 is stuck on.

You may be right. I admit that for every fdr I have done, I am always surprised that my wifi connects automatically even though I always have my access codes/Pw handy ready to set it up. I suppose the solution to this problem is knowing why sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't.

Umm I believe that is above my pay grade. Not really sure other than it has always worked for me. Perhaps going to privacy in settings and select the back up to Google account. Then go into accounts and sync, selecting said Google account, press menu key and select sync now?

Little update.. I was able to transfer my call logs and my text messages flawlessly. I have tried the backup to the sd card.. I have tried the syncing of the google account.. I still have everything BUT my list of VPNs.. I have had no issues with the transfer of the VPNs before.. I went from the droid1 to the droid 2.. My VPNs were there.. but from droid 2 to droid 2.. they wont transfer.. I need to find a way.. even if I can somehow get a list of them with the keycodes.. Ill re-add them myself if I could get a list of the networks and their respective codes.. Ill do whatever I have to to not lose this list..

Call verizon tech service. They may actually know a way to do that. Doubtful, but they have surprised me before. In the meantime, I will look through my files to see if I can figure out what folder they may be in and see whether they can be copied on a stock phone.

well I called Verizon tech yesterday.. They pretty much told me to ***** to Google.. They said they had nothing to do with that side of the phone..

OK.. question.. if I can not do it with a stock phone.. is it possible to make an image of my old phone so I can restore to that image.. then i can root the phone.. get the info.. and then just put the old phone back to the image I created to restore to.. then I can do a factory reload of the thing and send it back..

At this point.. I starting to look towards rooting the new phone.. if that is the only way I can do it.. then Ill have to do it that way..

Not sure rooting the new phone is going to do the trick. And I have no idea of you could be successful with replacing an image of the root of the old phone is possible. Ok, very stupid question but one we may have overlooked...

Since doing MyBackup onto the sd card on the new phone and restoring the data using MyBackup on the new phone... have you restarted the new phone?

More questions but just to make sure. If you activate your old phone now, do your wifi access points and keycodes still work on that phone? Is there a possibility that for some reason they came up missing when transferring to the new phone? Was there a factory data reset done? Technically, you are supposed to be able to transfer these settings on phones 2.2 and above via google backup and other backup tools without root but a possibility, that for some reason, the Droid 2 will not.

yes I have restarted a few times. Yes, as of right now, I can activate the old phone and the wifi connections are there and working..
