Possible Ways to Crack the Bootloader

No word that I've seen, but the policy at moto is still to lock the bootloader. That policy may change towards they end of the year. So I would expect current phones to be locked.

Did this operation die or what?

No. @DaveKochman came up with a very interesting and potentially promising approach and him, @aliasxerog & @plslowmo have been working on it behind the scenes. I am also trying to help them but I don't have the same resources or expertise as they do. But I am fully behind the new approach and will try and help out whenever I can.

Don't lose all hope just yet. :)

I think prime got an x recently and was going to look into a second init approach as well.

We're looking at a couple of different approaches. Unfortunately, there isn't much public documentation on what has been tried before.

Should make a blog or wiki, that way the community can see/watch progress, and others can learn from your experiences, no?

Would you mind elaborating a bit more Wug? Is this the "hardware hack" alias was talking about on twitter? Or have to do with getting data off the ram?

Who is this prime and how do I contact him?

He made the primed/deprimed kernels. There's a thread for it on this site. He's @f1vefour on twitter.

I'm thinking about getting a D1... If I could find one cheap on Ebay, I think I'll try that. It would be nice to be able to use different kernels and mod without worrying about being close to a computer so I can sbf.
