post-factory reset 2.2 problems

hello,

I was trying to update my 2.2 phone with the latest update from verizon and it failed several times. I decied then to do a factory reset. It worked and when it comes up, I complete the small wizard. I then get to the lock screen where I can unlock it. Then, there are no icons on the home screen, home button doesn't do anything, but I see the task bar where the time is. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Phone calls to the device work too. Long-holding the home button shows no recent applications. :\

Hmmmmm seems like you are having some kind of ROM issues. Have you ever rooted before?
