Problem with Handcent loading

I have been noticing lately that when I go to read my text messages via Handcent it takes several seconds for it to open. When I touch the app to open it, it immediately goes to a black screen for a good 3-4 seconds at least before it shows my messages and is quite annoying. Is there anything I am doing wrong or anything I can do to avoid this?

I had that issue prior to 2.2. It's probably due to the amount of messages you have there, you may wasn't to start deleting old threads, or change your settings so it keeps fewer messages.
I don't think FroYo fixed the issue for me, I think it's just due to the performance increase.

I always delete all my threads when I feel like there is too many to go thru so I'm not sure what it could be. Any other ideas??
