PSX4Droid => General Discussion

It might be the Rom you are on. When I went from UD3.5 to 4.0 it finally worked for me. FFIX still just gives a black screen though. Everything else has been working.
Hey, noob question from me, what exactly do you mean you went from UD3.5 to 4.0? Thanks for any info.
He went from Ultimate Droid 3.5 to Ultimate Droid 4.0.
It's a ROM (rooted users have)

Side note, I CAN'T EXTRACT THINGS! Please someone help already it's killing me. I run Ubuntu's OS and none of the extracting things work for it. Idk what to do in the terminal either.

Also... is it possible for someone (through AIM for example) to send me the already extracted files, like after they extracted the .7z can they send me over the ISO or BIN so I can put it on my phone?

Oh, cool, thanks. Maybe I should try to root...may wait awhile though.

Bloody Roar 2 does work, I just downloaded it. It is super slow on a stock Droid X, no root or overclocking or whatever. It's playable though, just sort of like a slow motion movie. Sound isn't too bad, sounds really good at the intro, etc.. Will test more games as I get them converted from my own or downloaded, etc..

Not sure how to extract anything from a phone, I just do it on my PC, plug in my USB cord and transfer my files to my X.

What games are you wanting, Diordna. Is it possible to send files like this from my phone. I don't mind sending you the few games I have, no problem. JUst hit me with a PM and instructions on how to do it. Like I say, I'm new to the smart phone world.

I mean I can't extract from my PC, I'm using Ubuntu (linux) Operating System.
Do you have AIM??
I don't see it in my apps. I'm not familiar with Linux at all. I have Windows 7 and have always had Windows operating systems. I just right click on a zip file and winrar extracts them for me. I use Winrar for extracting zipped files. As far as changing the file names, some files you can, some files have to be converted. I think that you can covert .mkv files (I think that's the format name?) to .bin files just by changing the name. But then others have to be done with some program. I have used unexm to fix a couple of my roms. Still can't find a Tekken 3 that works.

I'll be damn, lol, Tobal No. 2 works! Took me awhile to find this file because this game was never available to us lowly Americans but I found one and it does work. It is slow of course, cause Tobal was basically the best fighting game, EVER on the PS1 system. It was an innovator for many games, but unknown to a lot of us here and not famous simply because it was a Japanese game that never made a port over here (that I know of). But man, the gameplay is still fairly complex. Anyway, I'm stoked to have this thing running on my phone. If they can speed these games up then this could replace my PSP (which I gave to my son a few months ago anyway). So anyway, so far, I've got these games to work and they are playable.

Crash Bandicoot (Very playable, almost no real slowdown, decent sound)
Marvel Super Heroes vs. Capcom (Very playable, some slowdown but not terrible, pretty good sound)
Bloody Roar 2 (playable, runs really slow, decent sound)
TOBAL No. 2 (playable, runs very slow due to the 3d fighting and framerate, decent sound)

Games I haven't gotten to work YET are:

Tekken 3 (although I've seen the videos of everyone playing it, I guess it just don't like me, lol)

I am use to windows and winRAR too that's why I'm having trouble with Ubuntu.

Anyways I put on 7zip and it finally got me to extract Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 into a:

.bin.ecm

But have NO idea what to do now!!

Hey, ok, have you got that unecm program downloaded yet? If you download it, you can just put the .exe file on your desktop or wherever, then copy your rom file and paste it right on top of the unexm .exe file and you should see a black screen like a dos screen pop up and it will show that it is coverting your rom file. It will covert the rom file and put it in the folder that your rom is currently in, it'll just be in a different format or whatever. Then try and copy it to your phone and try running your emulator and see if it works. Hey, some files don't need to be coverted with UNECM though. I think only the ones that are in .ecm format and then they get converted into .bin format.

ECM - Neill Corlett's Home Page

for those who need to unecm their files.

of course legally this must be a copy of your own game

^ Yep. for those that dont know. You unzip the file then drag and drop the .ecm file onto the unECM.exe. It will then convert the file to its original form. :)

When moving the .bin.ecm over the unecm.exe it doesn't do anything. Like it CAN'T be placed on it. Help!
Hmmm, is the file you have already a .bin file? If it is then unecm.exe is saying that your file is already coverted into the file type that it would be converting the file to. So is the file you have already a .bin file. I'm not sure I know what a .bin.ecm file is, or maybe my files just weren't like that. I think mine were either .bin or .ecm, not both. And the ones that are .ecm are the ones that you have to convert...oops, no, you're right, they are .bin.ecm files that I have downloaded. Not sure what is wrong with yours, mine immediatly starts coverting it. You did install the unecm program after you downloaded it didn't you, and aren't trying to paste or copy your rom file onto the unecm installer file? I know that may be a stupid question but I've done crap like that myself before, just want to make sure we aren't missing something. IF you have the unecm.exe file installed and it isn't working when you copy and paste your rom into it, I have no idea what is wrong. Sorry, I'm like a 9 month old baby trying to teach a 10 year old kid to play hop scotch or somethin.

Ok I'll tell you what I did.

I put the unecm.exe file on the desktop. Then I put the rom's .bin.ecm file to the desktop that I extracted from a .7z before. So the original .7z I downloaded from a rom website I extracted to a bin.ecm file which is now on the desktop, with the unecm, exe.
But when I click and drag the .bin.ecm file over the unecm.exe, it just sits on top of it doing nothing. Just overlaps it on my desktop.
I have to be doing something wrong.

This method will not work for you. You are running Ubuntu Linux. Linux does not run .exe files natively. A .exe file is specific to Windows. You can probably find an unecm application for Ubuntu (.deb) or find a windows machine to run unecm.exe. Another possibility would be to run the unecm.exe with wine but I am not sure what you need to do to get that working.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for letting me know about it can't work for Ubuntu.
I have been trying to find answers but it's so difficult. I'm on a windows computer jut with Ubuntu OS.. I can't go back to windows OS because it got viruses =[[
But that's besides the point lol.

Any clue what I should do about making this work for ubuntu??
idk how to work the terminal very well with this stuff, and been googling trying to find answers but no luck because I don't even know what I'm googling anymore.
I'm soooo lost!

If anyone can send me a link to something else or tell me what to do please do.

well at least i'm not the only one having trouble. Just like the poster above me when i have the date.bin.emc file over the unecm.exe it does nothing. I wonder do i have a bad rom. Hopefully i will try a eboot and see how that works. I'm running windows

To the app developer,

In the Market, I have two credit cards in my options to pay that are exactly the same and it's impossible to tell which one is the right one because it only says "VISA XXXX" (one card broke, they both have the same number but different 3-digit codes on the back and different expiration dates). I tried to buy the app with what I thought was the correct credit card, but it wouldn't authorize my purchase. Thought "No biggie, I'll just refund and use my other card." Refunded (canceled the order, rather) and bought it with the other card. As it turns out, The first card WAS the correct card and I just didn't give it enough time to authorize so now I'm stuck and I can't buy it.

I will gladly PayPal you the amount if you can send me the .apk. I promise I won't share the .apk because I know you put a hell of a lot of time and dedication into this. (I buy all my music and movies if it reassures you more. LoL)

Please PM me if you get this.

And posters, if you know the developer doesn't read this thread, please point me in the right direction! I wanna get my hands on this beauty.
