There are a few threads on this. You can copy the music from your computer to your SD card, use players like isyncr, winamp, windows media player or others.

If you don't have a factory music player, try an app like winamp.

What is the best way to download music on your phone

Best is always highly subjective, regardless of topic. At least qualify what you mean by "best". For some, dragging and dropping is best. For some, cloud sync solutions are best. For some a sync app is best. It's impossible to tell by your OP where your needs/wants lie.
