question about droid x root

I'm thinking about rooting my DX to overclock and use wifi tether, but when gingerbread comes out, will my phone still update to 2.3? Or will it not recognize the update cause I'm rooted?

It will even if your rooted. Installing a custom ROM is what blocks the updates, usually.

That's what I thought but wasn't sure. Is there any way to confirm this? Cause there isn't any unroot method that seems safe

haha that might be good enough. I rooted my droid x once, but I tried the SBF method back and bricked my phone. I hate the stupid locked bootloader. Droid 1 rooting and switching roms was soooo much easier lol

z4root, root, unroot, just don't delete any bloat. Unroot before accepting the OTA. I cannot stress this enough. UNROOT BEFORE ACCEPTING ANY OTA.
