Question for those of you who have gotten new phones before upgrade.

OK last question on this then I'm done. I was looking at the plan mumbo jumbo and instead of an extra 10 a month it went from 59.99 to 99.99. Is that something new on Verizon's end? or does that not matter when I get the dumb phone on the 2nd line and it doesn't need the data?

If you are not already on a family share plan then to add another line you will need to go one. You can't add a line for 9.99 to a single line plan and the fs plans do cost more. 99.99 is two lines unlimited text and 700 minutes.

What she said. A family plan is cheaper than two individual plans ($100 versus $120), but it's certainly more than $70.

Have you considered getting a gently used phone and selling your old phone to cover some of the cost? Any way you cut it, you are looking at spending quite a bit of money. Whether it's an extra line, or terminating your existing contract, or buying from ebay, or buying full retail, it's not going to be cheap and easy. If it were, people would be doing it every other month when the new toy came out.

Not sure if this is true. It may be but curious if anyone has actually had that happen. I did this with letstalk.com and they gave the same warning but I didn't care, got my new phone, switched it to my line and put a dummy phone of the new line and all its well. No fees or charges.

Another option (my option lol) is to buy the new phone out right at Best Buy (using their card) and getting 18 months to pay it off interest free. BB will price match VZW and then you can also sell your current phone to help with the new cost.

How about if you add an old dummy phone on a family plan month to month. This way that line becomes eligible for an upgrade. Im sure you can transfer that upgrade to the line you want to upgrade. Would 3rd party dealers like Amazon accept that upgrade?? This way you can upgrade the line that you want instead of getting a new phone on new line then swapping then lines. I never tried it but has anyone tried?

My dx had screen glitch after warranty was up so i added a line to family plan and got a razr at discounted price, and and switched to my # and use new line on old flip phone for a house phone

you've been sliced by droid razr
