[TOOLS] R3L3AS3DRoot and 43V3R root for the BIONIC v2.1

Dang, I feel like such a noob. I still don't have my phone rooted. I'm having a hard time following everything. I rooted then got the OTA and lost root like the rest of you. Should I use the download at the very beginning of this thread or something else (has it been updated to work with 893?). I am on a mac.

One thing I am confused by is -- when I did download dHacker's file and gave it a shot and everything worked great till I got to the "password" area, not sure what my password is? Would this be one from verizon? something I create on the phone (it's not currently password protected) or something else?

Also, if I follow this method from dHacker do I need to first download and instal drivers onto the phone? Or just install this and go?

Thanks!

credit goes to a guy named JKLiving92, who helped me after i spent 12 hours running in circles, then he fixed me up in 2 hours... also, i did NOT got to 901. i stayed on 893. it works GREAT.....

If none of the newer methods work for you, this one worked for me: I used option 1 in DHacker's procedure (R3L3AS3DROOT) to take the phone back to the 886 system (I didn't reflash the radio or anything else). That also gave me 43V3R root on 886. Then I took the OTA and was able to keep root. I am now rooted on 5.5.893. I think it is important that you get the motorola prerealease drivers as mentioned in the instructions and follow all of the instructions in the script implicitly. (I.E., USB debugging on, non-market applications on, and the correct setting for the PC connection (I don't remember clearly but I think this may have you changing connection modes between steps in the script because it has to put an 886 system image on your USB card during the first part of the process). It will wipe your phone data and do a factory reset. However, you should be able to restore most of that after you get the OTA and root access survives if you have a good backup such as the one that Titanium makes for you. I see others who claim success with a new pathsaver method but I only have experience with Option 1 from DHacker.

Note: the prerelease drivers are not on the Motorola site. they are available via downloads posted on this and other forums relative to this method of rooting.

HEY, quick question:

whats the (advantage?) of Kin3tix update. and why would one want to update to 901 VS staying at 893?

i tried 901 and 893, didn't see a benefit, so went back down to 893 because i heard 901 was an accidental release...

thanks for the input Markwebb

You awesome pulldown toggles. That's the only reason I really ever use one.

like the power control widget? (BT, hotspot, vib, airplane mode) but from the notification drop down...

hmmm if i do the kin3tix update, how difficult is it to roll back to [without it] if i choose it's not for me?

Sorry for being unclear, I was in a hurry. I should have realized that the website had been taken down too, I was just confused. So, is there still a way to get to .901 with root? For me .901 is much better, and I would rather have that than root on an earlier build.

Did anyone find the actual file to run the program? I have 886 but am having problems updating to 893 and I want to keep the root but need the file to go back the rooting steps.
