RANT: Stop crying about battery life!!!

When I read all the posts about folks using it all day long with what I consider heavy use and still getting decent battery life on their RAZRs I could simply not believe it. The ONLY thing that makes sense is that I got a bum unit. Don't know what perfect world you guys live in, but there ARE bad units out there are people who do know how to optimize battery life are STILL having issues. Your feedback on how well your RAZR is running helps since it highlights the fact that the battery life issue isn't the norm and in fact is a real issue, not a user issue.

Without the 'whiners and complainers' starting up these threads, I wouldn't have known that most folks seem to be getting decent battery life out of their phones. I would have thunk - oh - its 4G, sucky batt life is normal and would have kept my defective unit.

So - THANK YOU for the 'whiney' posts. It convinced me I had a lemon and was able to return my phone. Otherwise I would have been stuck w/ a device that would be on a charger perpetually.

Let's see how many chargers/USB cables/etc I have for my Razr.... Dock/charger in my van, USB cable connected to work computer, USB cable connected to home computer, dock/charger in kitchen... Guess that I am not one of those crying babies. :D

Also, I read in forums to ran down the battery and charge fully a few times which I did. Since 6 am today, my battery is at 91% with 4G turned off. Not bad, eh?

Thats dang good! I'd pull mine off the charger around 7:30 AM, and by 10 AM it would have 70% left. That's WITH SmartActions, no WIFI, no bg sync, data off and very light use (turn the screen on to see if I got new email every hour or so.) Android OS would show batt use of 49%. Obviously conditioned the battery. Tried all the tweaks. Tried it for two weeks. No improvement. Returned it as a bum unit.

+1 with the OP. I'm growing tired of reading posts of people whining about "woe is me and my new Razr (or put latest 4G phone here) has a crappy battery life and I hate and blame Verizon and Motorola (add other manufacturer here) for my phones shortcomings!!!!! Please not only feel sorry for me but join me in my worthless rant and lets take a stand against those that made my battery die so quick!!!!!!" Just my opinion LOL

Amen!!!

I'm glad I didn't listen to anyone and bought the RAZR. My record so far is 1 day and 10 minutes on a single charge. That is with moderate use. (internet, 3G, Wifi, Play some games, Facebook, etc.)

Learn about cell phone batteries and how they work.
Learn how to optimize your phone. (Plenty of posts on that)
Smart actions is there for a reason.

Exactly! It's so ridiculous of us to expect to use our phone all day! With technology the way it is these days, we should only expect about ten minutes and stop whining.

Battery life is what you make of it. If battery life sux, then that's your stupid fault.

The reason why you drop 10-12% and your coworker dropped 5% and a moron's phone drop 60% all over night is because you ALL have completely different settings, keyboard settings, vibrate settings, led settings, brightness, active Widgets, other syncs, apps etc... etc etc etc etc etc etc etc...

Please .... do us a freaking favor.. learn a smartphone... next, learn android..... then learn it's system processes... then... feel stupid.. or go back to a tracfone!!!

Think thus is bad? Go to a blackberry forum. An Iphone forum. A windows or palm webs forum..... wow!!!! Same battery issues.... ITS A DAMN SMARTPHONE!!!!!

And yes... I'm sick if these "I have a android/ Droid razr so I know everything now" idiots!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I will call them morons until they start learning their phone/OS!!!!!

I have 2 chargers at work 2 at home and 2 car chargers. I expect bad battery life. On a 10 hour shift my display is on at least 7 of those hours. Today I pulled my phone off charger after charging all night, accidentally left it on my counter, yes a rough day without my baby, got home at 430 and it was at 77%. My android OS ran 61% of the use somehow tho. Whatever, I really don't care. That's why I have a charger any where I go. It should be expected. Ya some people get better life hot of theirs but I use my phone constantly. So what should I expect. Just saying

Why would you have 2 chargers at work and at home and 2 car chargers? Also in a 9 hour day my phone loses maybe 50% battery and I charge it in the car for about a half hour while i'm at lunch

2 at work because I'm in one of 2 places and I'm too lazy to get one if its not where I'm at. 2 car chargers just because I got one for free and I got 1 in my living room and one in my bedroom for the same reasons for when I'm at work. But at work I'm on forums, Facebook, twitter, games, lunch I watch an hour or so on hbo go. I'm constantly charging. After 3 hours off charger in the morning I'm down to 60% or so. Very heavy use, my phone is in my hand all the time. It passes the time

People just have to come to the realisation that we are carrying mini pc's in our pockets, try un-plugging your laptop and see how long it would run on its battery.
Myself, I have a charger in my car, at work and a couple in my house, and one on my night stand next to my bed, as my Incredible wakes me up every morning:)

+1 this is true. People dont realize that these arent really phones anymore they are little computers that can make phone calls. I don't want a bigger processor, more ram, or a bigger screen. What I want the most is new battery technology. This is a very exciting time for nanotube battery technology and i cannot wait until they're made available for cellys. They hold like 100 times more power than the ones we have and they're tiny. THAT is the "next big thing" that would change the game entirely and send us skyrocketing into a new generation of powerphones and technology in general all over the world

All the rebuttals against the battery complaints are so true for the most part. Still, we do all have to admit there are a few (ahem...) lemons that come off the assembly line in such a monstrous production. of micro-technology and ingenuity.

I am not saying I agree with the complaints for the most part, and I am sure you've seen my posts expressing frustration at them, but (in defense of a few) if someone buys one of these things, takes it out of the box, puts it on the charger immediately and leaves it there overnight (as they should have, but probably didn't), and then follows the instructions to activate it, and then simply uses it for a couple days without making a whole bunch of customizations to settings, installations of apps, adding of widgets, changing of backgrounds, setting up email accounts with polling at frequent times, etc., etc. (which they likely didn't as well), and the phone, in its pristine condition and unadulterated does strange things like going from 60% to dead in the blink of an eye after several days of getting accustomed to it or some of the other horror stories I've read, they may very well have a defective unit.

Truth is though, most of us on here are just like me - tech junkies, and couldn't wait to power the damn thing up and press the pedal to the metal the moment I could wrangle it out of the wrapper. I have had this thing for less than a week and already I've gone through better than 300 apps with it (of the 3,000 plus I've tried over the past almost 2 years), there's 142 on it now, I have 22 running in the background now, including LauncherPro, Animated Weather, a live wallpaper, and several email apps, Tikl touch to talk, Viber, AppMonster, and TextFree to name a few, and it's at 90% battery level (battery icon still shows full Green) after being sitting detached from the charger for over 3 hours, 30 minutes. In that time, Android OS used 43%, WI-FI used 21%, Display used 12%, Phone idle used 8%, Cell standby used 7%, and everything else used 3% or less.

I consider that more than acceptable. Also, it keeps getting better. So I suppose we all need to take a look at what we are doing with these things that may be affecting the battery consumption (ya think?), especially before we get on here and start telling everyone how badly these things suck. Like someone else in this thread earlier said (apology for not remembering who), I'm glad I didn't listen to all the complaints and went ahead with the purchase. If nothing else, I have only myself to blame if it happens to perform either to, more or less than my expectations.

This is a 4g smartphone for goodness sake!!! Its not a cheap prepaid flip phone. I bought the car dock and its attached whenever im in the car, it takes 2 secods and charges while Im driving and not using it anyway. Every smart phone has crappy battery life, every single one, except ones that wont do what these phones can.

You all sound like little girls.

Go to walmart, and buy a lil flip phone for a day and see which one you like better.

Stopy crying about people who cry about battery life and get a life yourself!
