Razr vs Bionic?

Traded Bionic for Razr today before my 30day worry free guarantee was up. So far I feel I made the right decision. One thing I noticed was when I played the bionic through the sync in my truck the music sounded distorted with razr its crystal clear even better than sirius.

I think the RAZR is clearly better than the Bionic. It does have some flaws but between the build quality, the much better display, how light it is, etc... it's going to last much longer.

My OG Droid heated up - never bothered me much. Probably because I had it way overclocked.

Basically it comes down to hardware - they both have the same software (or nearly so).

So after having the Razr for a few days do you guys prefer it to the Bionic? I switched over to the dark side (Blackberry) when the Bold Touch came out and gave my Droid Pro to my fiance'. I have to admit I have been missing the features of Android and have been thinking about coming back. While they can't make anything that can come close to the keyboard on this Bold, I think the other positives outweigh the bad. I just didn't know whether to go with the Razr or the Bionic. I have been reading and saw that the leak OS fixes the problems people were having with the Bionic so that is encouraging. I am going to try and get into a store and hold both of the phone tomorrow, since I have big hands I want to see which one feels better. Just seeing if others have an regrets from jumping ship on the Bionic and going Razr, or how new Razr owners are liking their device.

They are nearly the same size. The RAZR feels less comfortable because it's so thin and they did not round out the back. However once you hold it when it's not connected to Verizon's theft proof system it's so light it really doesn't bother you much.

There's no right or wrong answer, it depends on what you think.

I like the RAZR, very solid, very thin. I do notice the green/blue tint though, more so than the pentile effects when I first got the Bionic. That's just me though.

I posted this in a screen related post a few links over, figured you are looking for opinions and I have one to offer...

Yeah that is some good information, I too was worried about the screen on both of those devices. My Droid Pro was the same with the green/blue tint, and I learned to be okay with it. I always had my screen brightness down to save battery life anyway. I think I will do some more reading around, I might wait and see what they have coming out in the next couple of months.

some of the things i noticed while playing with the razr:

-it was hot to the touch, like really hot (no doubt due to the overclocked bionic processor)
-it lagged, more so than my bionic
-felt light/cheap (the power button felt like it was about to fall off)
-it lacks the extra noise canceling mic found on the bionic
-there was a deep gouge in the soft feeling kevlar (presumably by a cust/employee trying to "torture test" it)
-the colors look over-saturated and unrealistic (but i'm not a fan of the "cartoony" looking amoled screens anyway)
-it felt odd in the hand
-it's camera quality is equal to the bionic (a mod on the moto forum confirmed a few minutes ago that it is indeed the same exact camera)

just my observations/opinion. if you like your razr, that's what counts.

I dont know how many times I can say this..lol..it does have the extra noise cancellation mic.

Go see a RAZR and you will see:

A slit at the tip of the phone between the camera and speaker.
a hole at the bottom of the back of the phone.

Its possible the deep gouge was the plastic film covering the back of the phone. There is already a thread on another site where someone thought the same thing. I thought the same thing too. Opinions are fine, but lets not do like The Verge did and leave out facts. Cuz they are the 'professional reviewers' that missed the extra mic on the RAZR.

And the specs sheet from Motorola:

Its under Calling, Noise Reduction... says dual microphone ...

Both of these phones are outstanding. Pick the one you like best. The people on this forum who enjoy going back and forth with one another over which phone is better... Seriously? Know what I mean? It's a phone.

I am a high school assistant principal. I once had to deal with a little fight between two freshman who got into it over the brand of athletic socks one of them chose to wear. Razr v. Bionic, Android v. Apple, etc., and all of the similarly stupid "discussions" remind me of kids bickering over trivial crap.

I happen to love my new RAZR and I am sure there are many people who love their Bionic. If the fact that you cannot replace the battery when you're out and not near a charger seems like it might be an issue for you then I'd suggest the Bionic. You can keep a spare battery on you.

The RAZR is really thin, really light, and the display looks fantastic, IMO. But... If you allow the device to automatically dim the screen looks a little dingy, with a slight greenish tint (to my eyes). Disable that feature and turn up the brightness and it looks superb. If you view it from a sharp angle, even with the brightness up, it has a slight blueish cast to it. This is something that will never be an actual issue as, in the real world, you won't be viewing your device from such a crazy angle.

Keyboard app is superb. I am sticking with it instead of using Go.

Animations are smooth. The phone is ridiculously fast. The Bionic is too. If this means anything to you I got a score of 5979 on AnTuTu with my RAZR, a 2804 with Quadrant, and am getting 21.68 Mbps down and 12.14 Mbps up on Ookla Speedtest.net. A Bionic owner can post his/her numbers or you can search for them on this forum. They're similar.

These are both great phones. People who are into this stuff (I count myself in that group) and into sites like this make a big deal out of the tiniest differences or "flaws" in these devices. They're all really amazing, IMO.

Bionic vs Razr

I went and bought the Bionic on Monday and was pretty excited about having a new phone and especially the Bionic since I'd read so many good things about it. I kept having data drops which even the guys at the vz store couldn't correct plus the phone kept turning itself off and on whenever it felt like it. Finally after messing with it all week I went in and upgraded to the Razr. What an improvement! This phone has a louder ring, better sound and I love the smart actions! I would have kept the Bionic if it hadn't been a lemon but I'm really happy with how it all worked out. All of the guys in the store had plans of getting the Razr themselves too! :icon_ banana:

Who Cares?

Hey Guys,

I am looking to get a new phone, and i am not sure if i want the RAZR or the Bionic right now(Leaning more towards the RAZR).Why is it such a big deal that you can't take the batter out of the RAZR? Do you people really take your battery out of the Bionic that much? I have dropped my original droid a few times, and the back and the battery spewed in all different directions. I think i would be nice to not have to wort about that with the RAZR...IMO.

It doesnt matter as far as fuction wise just that doesnt allow for another battery to swap in or an extended battery. They make portable chargers for it though but they're much more expensive. It is a preference thing really, they have the same internals just the razr is clocked .2 ghz higher. The bionic has a better screen for viewing in sunlight because of the extra white pixel but the razrs screen is probably better indoors. They both have the same ppi ( i think?) So do you want the super thin phone that has worse battery life or the little thicker one that is also 100$ cheaper.

I was going to wait untill the RAZR went down in price. But everything i read says that the RAZR has better battery life.

I have a razr. One site I usually trust for info reviewed the razr and it came up a lil short to the bionic for overall battery life. A lil short...

I'm guessing it has mostly to do with the razor being clocked a lil higher and maybe the amoled screen. The bionic still holds the crown for best overall battery life of all the lte phones on Verizon. .with the razr 2nd
