REAL Official 2.2 for Droid release Date?

I know you prob dont know better than I do, but when the hell is it gonna be here. I dont want to root and I dont want unofficial kernals on my Droid. So can I expect it soon?

Second, is there any chance that 2.2 will have the same safety protocalls that the Droid X has that wont allow it to have Roms installed or any un-official aps not from market/ free paid apps installed?

From my experience with the 2.1 update, noone knows. Everybody kept predicting dates; they came and went. Then one day the update came. Just some random day. MY ballpark guess is probably mid August, but that may be too optimistic.

i believe it's hardware based, so probably not...

I have to admit, i've had this question in the back of my mind as well.

Why?

Because the efuse hardware is present in ALL OMAP3 chipsets, including our DROID's beloved OMAP3430. It just isn't presently being used. I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility that at some point, an OTA update could enable the protection.

I really don't think M wants to piss us off THAT badly, though. But who knows?

I rooted because I was tired of waiting for my Flash 10.1. Now I'm doing tons of other stuff with my Droid. I should have rooted LONG ago (Stayed rooted anyways). I will never run stock on my Droid ever again. Wait no longer, just root!
