Recurring notifications

I have the HTC incredible and had built up a lot of texts. When I deleted all the texts from my wife, it took a minute it so for them to delete. As I was waiting for them to delete, she texted. Now I keep getting a notification for that same text. Anytime I delete a text, the notification pops up. When I click on the text in the notification, it won't come up because it got deleted with the rest. How do I fix this problem?

I hate to tell you this but my past experience with that circumstance required a wipe of my phone......HOWEVER, I am not carrying your model nor am I familiar but I have seen that issue on other devices. I use to get them allllll the time because my Husband use to receive a text from friends with a virus installed on a picture file or oddity like that.

Go into the settings menu: applications find the messaging app and clear cache. If that doesn't work clear data.

Do what JS says, and if it doesn't work we might want a little more information -- are you rooted? Are you running the stock app or a 3rd-party apps like ChompSMS or Handcent?

I cleared cache and data but I'm still gettin the notification. My phone is not rooted and is stock.

Have you tried having your wife send you the *exact same* text message and then deleting it once you get the duplicate notification?

This sucks. Why should I have to install a 3rd party app when I've already got a messaging app. Are there any benefits to using a different messaging app?
