Regular Micro USB cables don't work with my car charger....

I have 2 of these. Universal USB Charger Kit With 6 Phone Connectors - LG L45C, Optimus Net both worked good, and charged my D2 and my wife's Razr. I lost one of the cables, and the other broke. I tried using just a regular micro usb cable like what came with the phones, and it doesn't do a thing. I then decided to try plugging in a hub, so it went charger->mini usb cable->4 port hub->micro usb cable->phone That made the D2's screen light up, but not charge. Anyone have something similar happen to them? I'm about to order another 12v to usb adapter, different type, but still from a cheap Chinese site.

Many of the cheap chargers are .5 amp. The Verizon chargers on Amazon are a great price. Many are 1amp.
