reinstall City ID

Can someone walk me through how to reinstall the CityID.apk?

I z4root'ed my Droid Pro the other day (which was simple and worked perfect the first time) and eventually got sick of City ID always running in the background, instead of renaming the .apk to .bak with terminal emulator I stupidly uninstalled it with Titanium Backup. I tired reinstalling it through TiB, but it didn't work. Maybe i'm not doing it right?

I found the Froyo CityID.apk and have it on my SD card and i'm trying to install it but I'm running into the same "Application Not Installed" issue that some others have had on the Droid X. I'm assuming i need to set it as a system app or something or make that folder path writeable or something... I'm 4 days old to the Android OS coming from an LG Versa, so i apologize immensely if i sound like an idiot.

I just want it so that when I can/have-to update it's a little more seamless to just unroot and proceed.

Did you ever figure out how to reinstall cityid. I am having the same issue. I dowloaded the apk file and its on my sd card and it wont let me install it.

I am having the same problem. All the other preinstalled apps reinstalled fine except for cityid

I got cardock to install without a problem

How did you get that to work. I downloaded from the zip file above and put it in my downloads on my sd card and then used astro and when I tryed to install it it says installation failed.

I downloaded all of the .apk's that I already deleted from chad haney

I used root explorer to change the permissions then install them. I had all the same .apk's and they all installed except for cityid

change the permissions to user read/write, group read, others read

I tryed that in root explorer and it didn't work. I went back into the apk file and it apeara the permission I set didn't save should I move the file elsewhere first and how do I save my changes to the permissions.

I have a real dumb question.... What exactly is the City ID app supposed to do? I wasn't sure what it was, so stupid-me disabled it. (Me runs to hide in the corner before the Droid experts start throwing things at me.)

if you have a copy of it on your sd card you could delete it then recopy it over to the apps folder. to save the permissions you just need to click ok after selecting the right permissions. i read that trying to install cityid through astro file manager works but it didn't work for me.


spydergirl city id shows where an incoming call is coming from, like city and state. its a trial verison

I noticed a difference while checking other system apps. If you check the properties in root explorer of cityid it says owner:system group:sdcard_rw. the other system apps say owner:root group:root. im not sure if this is the problem

Everytime I change the permissions and click ok to continue and I go right back into the app permissions they are changed back to the way they were before I changed them.
