Release Date On Gingerbread???

Are you guys talking about an actual Phone update or just the Android Gingerbread? I personally want an actual phone update because these issues are pretty bad and need to be fixed before we get 2.3.4 . They need to talk about the heat this thing gives off doing almost nothing.

And btw... I use amazon mp3, pandora and slacker about 8 hrs a day.

Great for you. But I owned the x2 and it was not functional for me. Reboots, lag, freezing, music skipping, etc. From reading users reviews, the majority of people with this phone are having the same problem.

PS if you did anything to your phone involving root access to improve performance, then you completely missed the point of my post.

I did not do anything to my phone to improve performance, therefore i did not miss the point. The phone is a good phone, with some minor performance issues that an update can fix. Every phone has flaws, regardless.

All of the above.

I have to second the "great for people who don't have these issues," but I also wonder if they've really put it to the test, don't realize it, or sincerely don't have it. I'd like to compare mine with theirs side by side to REALLY see a difference. Cause I assure you my original had the exact same problems as the replacement....actually the replacement had way more random reboots, so I actually ended up sending the replacement back!!

You are so confident that an update will fix it. The problem is hardware. The RAM is too low. Sure, Motorola could remove Motoblur, but do you really expect that to happen?

The RAM isn't really too low, there are other powerful 512mb phones that have 0 problems. Yeah, yeah duel core/gpu take up a lot of RAM, but with the proper management, it shouldn't be a problem. I mean...it's already been proven it's not a hardware issue via the V6. That script undoubtedly improved performance drastically just by changing a few numbers...without touching the hardware.

Edit: And if it IS discovered to be a hardware issue, and Moto doesn't do a recall or something to fix it, then we can sue the **** out of them for selling faulty products with a contract and get enough money to buy a Galaxy S2!!!

Wow!! Just hopped over to Verizon about 10 days ago. Was with sprint for over 15 years, but had to move and the reception was just horrible. My smartphone history was the Touch Pro 1, Touch Pro 2, Evo, and now the Droid X2. I can vouch for all kinds of issues with the TP1. It was truly a bad experience. The TP2 was a lot better, but it took a bit of work to get it going good, like MightyRom. The EVO out of the box worked like a champ. Even stock it was great. But I had been using the Synergy GB Roms and it was butter smooth.

Now, the Droid X2. I did use the phone for about 3 to 4 days before I started tweaking on it. I used the netflix app and pandora pretty heavily without issues. I did NOT play any mp3's back through my car stereo or such, so I can't comment on that issue. But, my phone never has gotten overly hot. I've sense used the V6 script and rooted just because. I've seen a little performance increase, but nothing breath taking. The only issues I've had is a few times the touch screen kinda gets wonky. Like trying to unlock the phone and when trying to add a widget. I am using Launcher Pro, so it could be LP, but just saying. Coming from 3 HTC phones, I do prefer Sense over Motoblur. Really, motoblur is my only real complaint. I can't stand it. Other than that, the phone is flawless, purrs like a kitten. Does anyone really know how smooth a dual core phone should run? I've never gotten to the point where I've bogged my phone down and made it stutter or anything.

I find it odd that the DX2 crowd is about 50/50 split. It seems half the crowd loves it and the other half thinks it is a POS!!! I dont' know what to make of that. I'm not doubting there are issues, but some seem exagerated, IMO!

I know I'm new here and I'm not trying to stir the pot. But, I know I have had some bad phones, and this one isn't even close to being bad!!!

My gf has an atrix and it out performs my rooted thunderbolt and has better battery. Only thing is 4g which I have and she has att. I got att to give it to her for free. Have to work my magic with verizon too sometime in the future.

I feel bad, cause if this phone just had a larger battery it would be nearly perfect. Gps is somewhat an issue too but not too horrible.

unsqueeky wheel

Several have commented how troublesome the X2 is and all the difficulties they have. Some have insinuated that most people reviewing it are having problems (reboots,disconnects,etc..) This only goes to prove my theory that mainly the dissatisfied complain. Let me represent the unsqueeky wheels. I have had the X2 since day 1 (5/19/11 from BB) I use it every day and use the extended battery. I have NEVER had a reboot. The only problem I have from time to time is repeating SMS messages, and that may be a systems issue. Coming from the original Droid its like night and day. No 4G? Don't need 4G. No FFC? Don't need no FFC. I run stock. I wonder what % of people with reboots are rooted versus stock. Someone said that Motorola received large negative feedback. Where is that info available? How many have been sold and how many have been returned? I interpret every purchaser who did not return as a "yes" vote. I would also like to see a personality profile of all those who returned it or had issues with it. Me? I'm perfectly normal and extremely well adjusted.

I'm confident that it's a phone and will never be 100% what you want. It's faster than my OG Droid, so why should I complain? The RAM is NOT too low, and why do I care about the removal of Motoblur?

My point is, if you don't like the phone, return it and get something you do like. I do expect Motorola to make updates to the phone, just like they did with my OG Droid. The phone has been out for only a month really, give it some time. I'm done arguing with you about this, not worth my time.

As many have said, your phone is an anomaly.

I'd say that's logic more than theory. Besides, I've gone through two replacement phones (plus my original) and they have each had the same problem, some more than others. They also assured me for both phones that I'd be getting a new product not a refurbished one. So, logic AND theory would tell me that it IS a problem with the phone itself, and if you haven't experienced these issues then....well, I find it hard to believe or you just haven't come across them because you don't use those features. Go play some music, plug in your headphones, and open up the "Task Manager." Can almost guarantee you'll get a pop or a skip while the list is loading. Does your phone come back on instantly after unlocking it? And I'd love to see an uploaded 720p video from your seemingly perfect phone. Go watch several review videos, even off CNET, and you'll see which of these problems they experience, if not all.

Also, like I said, since the V6 definitely helped out, then it goes back to how I said this is pretty strong evidence in favor of it being a software issue.

Have to agree with Pizza3! Not to many people are going to jump on a forum and tout "Hey, my new phones works just like I thought it would." I did just in response to all the people having issues. Though I agree there are some things that can be tweaked and made a little better, all in all, the phone is a good phone for most. The trouble is with a very limited few compared to the total number sold.

Well, I'm not a very picky Guy, and I don't expect perfection, but my X2 is a pretty big disappointment. I lost track of how many reboots and forced closed I've had. Many every day. Playing back music with any player on this phone is useless. Skips, pops, stutters make it unlistenable. The UI is laggy, recording video is also choppy.

This is my first Android phone and I thought I had 30 days to return it, not 14. I'm stuck with it. I should have got the thunderbolt.

You're not stuck with a buggy phone. Return it! I had problems with my first X2, but the replacement is great. No complaints on the replacement phone. Verizon was great on the replacement too. Next day delivery and easy return. I've also been very pleased with the battery life, but I like having two batteries. The extended battery just arrived today.
