[ROM] [RELEASE] Steel Droid: 5.0 Gingerbread - 1-11-2013

My cell standby and idle has been high since I've bought the phone and on both sd2.0 and 3.0 I get about 9. Hours a day out of my battery while others get multiple days :(

Never really looked into this issue cuz it seemed to be just my phone

Regular or extended battery?

I have the extended one and usually go from 7am-11pm with 30-40% remaining

Sweet rom. Had the same email difficulty, but since I only used it for yahoo, I just decided to abandon all the complexity and use the native yahoo mail app.

Couple things:

No quickoffice? I used that quite a bit. Anyone know a way to get that sucker back on the phone? Guess I could just use docs to go since I actually purchased that a long time ago anyway, but still...I was kinda liking quickoffice.

You think we can get that ATRIX camera app as a pre-installed system app for the next release? The DROID 3 cam app is a ball sucker. Its like 3 hours between the time you tap the button till it actually takes the picture. If you're trying for action shots forget it. (Maybe one of the top reasons why I am eyeballing the g-nex) I know I could just install it myself, but I don't have root explorer and I am getting tired of paying for all these root apps. Unless someone knows a way to install without root explorer. I have j rummy's App Manager app if anyone knows a way around having to pay for root explorer you would make my day.

I'm on wifi whenever I'm home or at class, or if no signal in class i put it in airplane mode. I've always surfing, txting and playing games.

I might try a battery calibration tomorrow (clear stats, fully charge and let die fully, and see how long I get)

i still cant get rsd lite to flash.. It keeps failing at different levels. sometimes it fails at 1/18 and once i even got to 17/18 ugh lol.. does it really take this many attempts? ive probably done over 30 attempts. I re downloaded the correct files, tried a different computer, different usb cable (using oem cable), different hub. what gives?

Well I didn't backup anything before I flashed. Probably stupid I know. Does anyone have the quickoffice apk they wanna send me or link to?

Im no expert but when I initially did it, (steel v1.0) I probably did it over 30 times as well, I kinda freaked too but eventually it worked.

I received the Google Talk call for video chatting and briefly saw the picture on the other end with voice. But I got FC immediately. Did anyone experience this and know a solution?

I will add Quick Office as an addon in the OP when I can. :-)

And you are running 5.6.890???

Sorry...as you can tell I am a noob. I just thought I'd ask since I have not heard about battery problems in the new release...just the one prior

All good. :) its not so much a version problem as a background cpu process of sorts. Ive seen a few reports of people having similar issues, its being looked into and should be fixed in the coming release.

I def have not noticed a lower battery life, actually better life, but can agree that phone standby/idle seems high, no complaints here.

Great work guys
